I think most use flickr, photobucket, or some other free image hosting and don't upload the images directly to SDAR...

    New ride...

I went and did it last night. Joined the "cult of orange". 04 KTM 450 EXC. It's relatively stock and not ridden all that much. I definitely need to do the typical mods, need a "tall" seat, probably need new springs up front. Great bike, I'm excited to get it out on the trail. Needs a carb clean first. I have to say, I'm going to get used to the E start too...

    New ride...

Great info, I'll be checking all the listed gotchas. I understand checking the valves is relatively easy as well. I'll want a baseline on that. Looking forward to checking everything out over the weekend... Yes Sir, WR will be for sale shortly. It was idling like crap on the DD so I need to adjust, outside of that all is well. I'll fix the idle issue and post it up...

    HAM Radio Test - Changing

Out of interest.. How would using the repeater play out? You go to a specific channel, talk to the operator, then they bounce your signal provided you're legitimately licensed to do so?
  10. Yeah, I can't bring myself to drop any money on a GPS when mine is doing it's job. I also try not to look at other GPS units so I don't know any different. I'll actually be at the registration desk putting my computer skill to work. Come on by.
  11. I'm still rolling with an eTrex Legend... I'll be able to deal with the old GPS units not a prob, provided you have your cable. I'll try to get map source, but already have Easy GPS installed. No worries for the stone age GPS users... Everyone deserves the right to gps tracks...
  12. I have a small footprint PC I can bring out with a serial port... Just need software loaded...

    Desert Dash Riders Secrets

I rode my first DD last year. 1. It's a fun ride, not too technically challenging, great tour of the dez. 2. We left early, stopped for quick pics and gas. Hung out at the sandwich stand for awhile and barely made it back before dark. Plan to keep a steady pace, you're not really haulin ass, just keep at it. 3. Don't underestimate how physical this ride is. Proactively hydrate and eat. Water, granola, trail mix, power bars, etc. Don't let being tired tell you when to refuel. 4. Be ready for deep sand riding. Start the mantra. I like sand, I like deep sand, I like sand with rocks in it... (I guess it isn't "that" much sand. I just hate sand.) 5. Don't forget you camera. You'll cover a huge varietly of amazing terrain. It'd be a shame to have to relay this info via BS stories to your non-riding friends.

  18. Awesome video! That's an amazing show of skill. Throwing the skateboard sideways at speed through switchbacks with complete control. Thanks for posting that... wow, how long has it been since I've posted here..... That felt good...
  19. Interested, let me see what I can do...
  20. The family and I did Thanksgiving with friends at Lake Cachuma. I put together a quick DS Loop with my buddy Kevin that took us up on the ridge overlooking Santa Barbara. Beautiful terrain. About 50/50 dirt to street for a total of ~60 miles. I wouldn't go there specifically for this ride, but if you're up there, it's fun... Here's the map of the loop: Google Map Taking off from camp Looking back down at Lake Cachuma from the ridge trail, Camino Cielo West The exact opposite direction for an ocean view (Channel Islands in the background) A couple of glamour shots of me at Refugio State Beach The trail back down to Santa Ynez Pavement at the end of the trail with autum colors
