  1. Hi all,Finally got almost all the bolts back in the XR, gonna go out with Kevin on his Dakar tomorrow, wanna go?Route:Leave pavement down by Brown field, go up over Otay Mountain and out toward Delzurra, then finally end up at Barrett Junction. Mostly off-road, we'll probably eat a late lunch out there, and then people can split up or find a new route, or.... We're moderately aggressive, so don't bring your Goldwing, but probably won't be tearing it too bad, since I just got the new topend back together this week. Not many super technical gnarly sections, but should be some challenge, if you came you could help push Kevin's sorry #&@^! up the steep sections  We're going to meet at Kevin's in Chula Vista at 9am, call me (858)922-7829 if you want details. I'm the geek behind this site, so gotta get out and ride and not look at a computer for awhile, let's go ride :)

  2. I'm a moron  This is Cameron, the guy who runs the site, here's what happened:The database portion of the site that runs the forum was hosted on another company's server, not mine, and they "supposedly" do nightly backups on all the databases, but the software glitched and ate their databases, so we're trying to restore them from their backups, but it looks like they might be corrupted. The last offsite backup was in March, so that's been restored, but until they come up with the lost database, we're screwed. You can still add posts, and when I get the db from them, I will repopulate the forum database and everything will be fine, but we're cancelling our service with them because of it (and other problems with service).Because of this we've switched to a nightly backup on a separate hard drive, and also a remote nightly backup of all the databases onto a totally separate network, so it can't happen again, but this was my fault, I should've done that before so I don't have to count on them...live and learn. Anyway, that's what happened, and yes, it sucks, and I take responsibility, because it certainly wasn't any of your fault.Sorry,Unclecameron

  3. Has anyone ridden the new BMW R1200GS just coming out, and does it work off-road? I rode Steve's R100GS for a bit during the Desert Dash and was pretty impressed by how it handled in the sand, just wondering if the new one stacks up? Hopefully well for the price of a new(er) Toyota.
