What a perfect day for riding. Seems to be a pattern on my rides. No one showed and at 730 it was 100' of pavement then hit the dirt. Time to go The trail starts off mild. I remember the first time I found this route. It made the hair on the back of my neck standup. I had been looking for a couple of years for these routes from the mountains to the desert. This one was the birth of what's now interstate 8. You can see all the parked wind generators down in Ocotillo From here we found if you just coast with the bike off chances are better to see some of the wildlife. There is only one spot that requires a short startup then back off. So it get a little rocky the rest of the way, I took my time enjoying the desert There is the freeway below You do need to watch the edges or the trail, lots of cholla The last section before the I-8 Here is where the name is from. Mountain Spring. It is lower than normal not allot of rain. It is still used by the local wildlife. I will upload my video this week and you will see what I mean. Looking back up At this point I was little too warm with the 40 degree gear I had on and chose the freeway back to Boulevard then the border road home. Another great ride.
