paulmbowers 236 Posted February 27, 2010 I've been in touch with a local HAM club with the idea of an evening S-Dar radio symposium. Topics would include repeater use, radio programming and some license issues. Any interest?

Ride-Orange 2 Posted February 27, 2010 I need to get a VHF radio and the fixins to talk with my S-dar buddies, so I'd be interested. ...but what's a "symposium"? (I'm not that smart... don't know how I got this job in the first place...)
Zenosan 2 Posted February 27, 2010 I need to get a VHF radio and the fixins to talk with my S-dar buddies, so I'd be interested....but what's a "symposium"? (I'm not that smart... don't know how I got this job in the first place...) Symposium Famous dinner party dialogue (debate) written by Plato where Socrates mixes it up with opponents over the nature of Love. PS Unlike other posts of mine this one is actually true. As you can see-it is raining out there today!
SDlineman 0 Posted February 27, 2010 If a S-Dar symphony or whatever you wrote helps me figure out my radio better, then I'm interested.
2Wheels 0 Posted February 27, 2010 I got my general amateur radio license years and years ago, but never did anything with it. I've always renewed it every five years though, so I still have it; and doing something with it is something I've kept in the back of my mind. So yes, I'd be interested as long as it's not on a day when I'm out of town and it isn't up in North County.

rexr 0 Posted February 27, 2010 SDAR- San Diego Adventure RidersJust guessing here... I'm kind of a VERY NEW S-Dar :scratch_one-s_head: Duh.. My bad.. There is a digital ham technology called D-Star so I wasn't sure if it had something to do with that. Count me in.
Zoot 0 Posted February 27, 2010 I would certainly go. Need to learn how to turn down your singing :scratch_one-s_head: Seriously though, I'm studying for my exam and would love some extra context.

Bagstr 287 Posted February 28, 2010 Count me among you. Passed my exam just this morning; Put a rainy day to good use for a change. Learning how to use the repeaters and offsets, etc. would be great Any symposium on the subject of love is attractive to me. FakeName, you knew any semi-serious thread would migrate to nonsense, right?

FakeName, you knew any semi-serious thread would migrate to nonsense, right? Congrats Dave, you are way ahead of me. By the way- the Symposium was made into a movie starring Peter Ustinov as Socrates. I think it is called "The Symposium".

But we ain't here to do business, folks, so it's all good. I'll continue with the ham guy to set something up.
Yeti 0 Posted February 28, 2010 All this talk about HAM and I'm getting hungry. Maybe some bacon . . . MMMMnnnnn. Oh, and I would be intersted in a symposium. If it was a caucus or perhaps a shindig, I wouldn't be. But you just can't beat a good symposium.
darylhunter 1 Posted February 28, 2010 A funny thing happened on the way to the Forum . . . :-) Wouldn't mind going if I'm in town and able to get some time to head to the meeting. Daryl

Zenosan 2 Posted March 1, 2010 Coulda called it a salon. Gimme a real Symposium. I also want a real Socrates - maybe Peter Ustinov and since this a a Symposium about Ham Radios and Platonic Love I also want Geraldine Page who played his infamous wife Xantipe in the movie! The historical gossip is that she was a real Shrew! That should shake up the event!
SDlineman 0 Posted March 1, 2010 Would it be too ambitious to have a GPS colloquium afterward? I need some help with it too.
