piratemonkey 0 Posted December 14, 2009 My 1953 pig of a garage door is dying and I want to replace it with a roll-up garage door. Can anybody recommend a good company or person to help me install a new one? If not, it'll be the usual Yellow Pages roulette. thx
TrophyHunter 15 Posted December 14, 2009 http://www.falcondoors.com/welcome/ Did ours about 4 years ago. Reasonable, responsible, even came back to adjust/reprogram the remote at no charge (after we messed it up).
ADV Bum 205 Posted December 14, 2009 I installed the Roll-up type commercial door last year. It was hard and expensive with someone local. I ended up ordering relatively cheap over the internet and installed myself. Problem was it was heavy, but it was a 20' door. If it is a one car door, two people can do it pretty easy. If that is the door you want, I will look for the info on the company.

piratemonkey 0 Posted December 15, 2009 Thanks for the replies. I'll be glad to get rid of the up-and-over door so I don't have to worry about parking too close to it and whacking the vehicle.

piratemonkey 0 Posted December 15, 2009 I thought this was going to be a face-plant type post. My ex-boss once told me a story in which he and his brother were racing towards their rural Iowa house on dirtbikes. He didn't give himself enough stopping distance on the gravel driveway so he laid the bike down to try to stop, but he had so much momentum he still went through the garage door. He had to work all summer to pay for a new door.
