Hi gang, I'm interested in doing the SoCal BDR in the next month or two and might like some company.  I ride a DR650 and move along at a good clip. I tend to take my time in the morning, but then ride until dusk.  I'm comfortable camping or hotels, but I prefer to eat at restaurants (or beef jerky, chips and soda at a campsite.)  I'd rather not carry cooking gear.  For experience, I have done the entire Trans America Trail in three legs. I live in San Diego and would ride from my house. I understand there is quite a bit of sand, so those bikes over 1100cc might not be the best choice.  Ed  motoed@hotmail.com

Its a fun ride and you're right, there is quite a bit of sand. The big bikes will be ok but need to take their time and be patient.

Wish I could go with you! Planning my Colorado BDR for this summer right now...
