Crossing back via TJ on motorcycle. Changes?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I read the thread on crossing back via Tecate.  I’ve gotta make a run down to Ensenada next month and I’ll be coming back on a motorcycle.

Tijuana is always my go-to because I go all the way up through the SENTRY lane and then cut into the ready lane.

I sure hope that’s still available. Anyone know if it’s changed like Tecate?

I do the same. As of mid Feb the TJ crossing north was unchanged. Same as it ever was.
Am winding up day 5 this afternoon in Baja At Coyote Cals. Crossing Tecate again tomorrow. Id say the Tecate crossing is more organized both ways and wait times for bikes is unchanged.
FWIW, perfect riding weather all week. Same wonderful people and places.

Last saturday, Crossing time North at Tecate was like 3 minutes for the truck. At 12:30pm on Saturday. I was pretty stoked to get back to Borrego by 3pm ….. instead of 9pm like in April (5pm arrival to the que).

Zubb - Did you see if they opened up the Plastic K rails so you could you sneek in . Does it look changed in any way ?

Heres the approximate now blocked K rails gap.
For motorcycles- The normal gap in the K rails is now blocked. You can NO longer ride north up that street and jump into line there.
However you can either ride along the wall and filter to the front of the line of cars, or just ride a few blocks east of the old K rails gap, and then cut north to the wall road, and find a K rails gap to enter there.
Its still easy and quick. Just need to start a fee blocks east of the old gap.

I came across Tecate (pickup truck) a week ago (yes Mother's day) around 11:45 AM. 2.5 hour wait.

Plenty of bikes were riding along the wall and splitting lanes to the front towards the right turn.
