Anyone interested in riding the Stagecoach Trail on Sunday 3-26?

Meet across the street from the Jacumba gas station in the empty parking lot with enough time to prep your bike for a 10:00 departure.  We will ride the Stagecoach Trail to Mountain Spring and then do a little exploring behind Table Mountain.  This is a historic wagon road with good photo ops.  This ride is recommended for intermediate riders on skinny bikes.

I will cross post to Facebook.

Unless you happen to be Uncle Cameron.  I still remember him riding that route back in 2007, in the summertime, in slacks, tee shirt and street boots, standing up and picking his way through the rocks on his giant BMW.  I was wiped out from the terrain and heat and thought I was hallucinating when he motored by the spot I had stopped at to rest.  But....I digress.😏

That's why I said "recommended" 'cause I know there are some nut jobs on here that take big bikes to difficult places.

And we did this last year with Kelly on the BIG Bikes. I think I rode my 1150GSA.

I might do it if it isn't too extreme.  I've ridden with you a couple of times so you know I just like to putt and enjoy the ride. If it's too challenging i would just go back to S2 and meet up again closer to Julian.  I could meet up along 94 somewhere with the DR.....

I'm going to haul my bike to Jacumba with my 4 runner so I won't be anywhere near S2, Julian or 94.  This is a pretty difficult trail with almost no highway.

Ah, OK then.  I'll go ride towards Portero and Coral Canyon in that case.  Hoping it is still open for 52" and under.  The conditions website isn't real specific.

If you have the basic tenants of riding down it’s not that hard. Basics being slow speed balance, clutch, throttle and brake.

Level 2-3 on the Zubb-big-bike scale.
There’s one particular hill climb in the table mountain area that turned me back I’ve got my eye on.  Eventually I’ll get back there with a couple Trophy friends who are the best hill climbers I’ve ever seen and see if we can whip it.
hope you guys take some pics for us today!

There are still some neat mines to explore behind Table Top, east of Squaws Tit.

Great riding area to get out and enjoy nature with a plate.

That's what I meant.  Table mountain.

I always call it table top for some reason.

Ride up and over that hill climb that zubb has only looked at, on the back side are the mines.

no one committed to this ride and my friends won't text back so this trip will likely get canceled

Next month about this time there will be a group of intermediate riders heading to the exact location.  You shud join us.

It would be a great opportunity for you to meet riders at your skill level with similar interests.. possibly get to know them maybe hook up easier 🤔

I think "Rodriges" from Banner to S2 was harder, or it was my condition.

And I thought Rodriguez was a lot easier than Mtn Springs. But I ride Rodriguez regularly and have only done Stagecoach once.

Must have be my age. I almost passed out on the final sand stretch on Rodriguez. And it was with the HP. On Stagecoach I rode the 1150 GSA.

I think that was a ride I put together for Meetup. The wash at the bottom was super fluffy.  I dug a lot of bikes out that day.

Is there a GPX/map for this? I'm looking for more fun "small bike" stuff.

I will check if I have recorded this.
