Lost Valley High Point TT and Palomar Divide

Recommended Posts

Chris and I rode Lost Valley, and looped back around and ran High Point Truck Trail, and Palomar Divide yesterday. This is Chris's second time out riding the bike after an uninsured motorist totaled his 1090r, and put him in the hospital last October. He seems to be taking right to the 890! Also... shoutout to RUBY MOTO for his R4 Amber auxiliary lights, really awesome visibility I always knew where he was

I want to do this ride.

Let’s do it :) You have done the lost valley part, just not high point etc yet 🤙🏻
(I’m out next weekend though I’ll be on my spicy pasta rocket somewhere between here and Nevada).

I have baseball games Sunday afternoons and I’m coaching on Mondays. Let’s make a public event via the calendar.

Awesome loop!  Double shout out to #rubymoto lights as well.  I've done considerable miles with the 3 amigos.  Being Tom T, Adam (son) and myself.  I run Ruby R7's, Adam runs R4's and Tom run clearwaters top light (Ericas?).  As we've all swapped the lead a hundred times, it's almost impossible to not remark on the visibility of the 2 riders behind you.  There's no practical difference between the 3 lights, at day, or at night.  In fact, while my R7's have suffered Thors hammer on many occasions. . . they remain practically unscratched.

In hindsight I wouldn't pay the extra to go from R4's to R7's.  R4's are smaller, mount more "inside" the lines of the bike, and are quite a bit lower cost.  And they definitely are a clearwater killer on value with equal or greater performance in my opinion.

NIck, thanks for posting up this RR.  It makes me smile (a lot actually) to see pics of the trails I've been away from for 10 weeks now.

@Zubb I feel for you man, being off the bike waiting to heal is the worst - silver lining is you and @moto_rph should be all ship shape ready to roll for the fast approaching  fall/winter riding season 🤙🏻

Running RUBY Moto R5s with an ezCAN. Both are excellent products.

That's the goal.  I kinda boogered up the shoulder worse than thought and have to do some extra credit for awhile.  Still thinking October will be ok for off roading as long as I keep the 13 year old in my head gagged and bound.

Rule #1 every morning is to look in the mirror and say "don't f*$% this up Kelly"

Laughing at the 13 year old comment!

I hear ya there.

Still nursing my ankle from the two-fer Tuesday ride that I had to bail out on 10 minutes in due to dabbing the foot.   It seemed to be getting better , but it's still pretty weak.  I was in AZ this weekend visiting family and I kinda re-tweaked it walking on rocks (fishing) because it's weak.    Damn it.    I prob should have gone to the doc when it happened.

All I can say is that I'm glad that I at least had those Gaerne MX boots on or it woulda been a ton worse compared to my old Alpine Stars.

We should text each other every morning a reminder saying "don't be stupid today".

It's hard.

Usually means, just do your chores around the house instead of riding.

I recommend Lost Valley into Anza then a quick ride up Thomas Mountain if you have the time.

That’s a good one too, or Lost Valley, Bailey’s Cabin, and if you have anything left either of those or Red Mtn!

Looks like there's a (white) gate at the entry of Palomar Divide Road on 79 and another (yellow) gate at the entry of High Point Rd. on 79 in Aguanga.

Are they usually open, or closed but unlocked?

The route is the most fun going up High Point TT, continue to lookout tower, then take Palomar Divide back down which exits back on the road, further toward the way back to San Deezy. High Point TT has a gate a couple/few miles in. It's all part of the Palomar area, so you can call the ranger station to ask if they are open but typically it's closed the week of forecasted rainfall, and can be closed for a week or so after heavy rains, I assume to limit the cagers from mud rutting up the route. This time of year the palomar or ramona stuff can be a bit of a 'locked gate tour' depending. It's a good ride though, would love to hit that up sometime soon as well @padu
