Kinda equilibrium

Recommended Posts

Was time for a new tire. Local place has these on sale for $64 out the door. It’s sticky for sure, needed dish soap to spoon it on the rim. I’m sure it’ll be good, just wondering how long it’ll last.

I'm hooked on the Tusk Dsport® Adventure Tire 130/90-18 (69R) Tube Type, DOT legal $65 at RMATV,  works good on pavement and dirt on my 500 EXC

There are so many good choices out there these days.  It’s hard to keep up in what’s the latest trend.  Let us know how that Kenda works out.

This looks a lot like the Dunlop D606 and Pirelli MT21, both of which I've tried. Both performed pretty good with accel/braking grip, but would let go unpredictably when sliding to the side. How's that Tusk Dsport do with side sliding when it breaks free? does it predictably slide? Or break free all at once with little warning?

So far I really like this equilibrium. TONS of traction and totally predictable when it did break free. I only rode about 100-150 miles, so I can't talk to longevity yet. But we rode tons of sand, slick rocks, about 15 miles of street, dirt, little mud. Incredible grip all around.

Well, it is a hybrid tire, and is supposed to exhibit the some of the best characteristics of a trials tire , without sacrificing some of the best characteristics of a knobby.  Some other hybrids don't do as well at both.  I like Kenda tires, and use the Parker TD on the back of my 501.  I recently put a matched set of one Kenda's extreme enduro tires, the Gauntlets, on my Beta Xtrainer, and I like them a lot.  They stick well and work on most terrain, and wear better than the Shinko 216 Extreme that was on my bike when I bought it.  Kenda makes plenty of good choices for trail riding, that's for sure.

Update: great tire. Tons of grip everywhere, i feel like a superhero on the bike.

notes:

-does seem to be wearing pretty quickly, but continues to grip well

-is super tall. I had to lower my forks a few mm to balance the taller rear. also, it tore up my mud gaurd. Luckily I needed a chain and sprockets so I was able to move the wheel back a bit.

dont have any pics of the tire. I’ll post an update after tomorrows 100 mile dual sport ride.

Before and after 45 more miles of very rocky and sandy trails and 45 more miles of high way at 50-75. Tire is wearing about the same and as other dirt tire I’ve tried including the golden enduro, motoz enduro, and ac10. Still really happy with it
