KTMrad 508 Posted August 24, 2021 Did you know ? I bought a device once called the "Itch Stopper" for poison oak itching and it used a small metal disc that heated up and would apply heat directly to the area...it also worked on mosquitoe and bug bites. An easier solution is to apply direct heat using a lighter or cigarette (without burning yourself), or heating up a spoon and applying it to the bite. All of these work, as this article mentions. Trust me, the heat, however you do it, works ! https://www.birchbox.com/guide/article/mosquito-bite-remedy-itch-hot-spoon
DSM8 360 Posted August 24, 2021 Better than a hot spoon to the eye I guess..
hobiee 28 Posted August 25, 2021 You know why this is said to work ? The heat destroys the proteins that make the bite itch. Question is however, is one doing more damage to the surrounding area tissue ? Simple salt water applied to the area is actually a better idea. or like grandpa used to say, pee on it
