I ran sweep for a group of 9 today. Good times we’re had by all. @Bub_Hannah ripped it up on the green Tiger (it’s the fastest color of course). A shiny Wee took it’s first dirt nap. I didn’t tell the pilot it’s a required maneuver, he just figured it out himself and ejected properly if not gloriously.  Sorry . No pix as I was taking it easy on the new guy. 🤓 With his bike properly seasoned now we continued on

Gun club- doghouse - Otay towers- that hairpin left to the wall - past the hypnotic shadows, up the switchbacks to Marron  valley. Over the top and down to the gate at 94.

of course many of you know about the lane closures on 94 (as did we) and we scooted up the line a bit to park in the shade until the pilot car returned.  It’s a long wait.  Which means it’s a LOOOOOONG LINE!

There were plenty of stops along the way for scenic appreciation and miscellaneous bullshite.
As it was nearing noon, and the smoker grill was roaring in dulzera, we hooked a left into the store and ordered ……. Everything.  Tacos were devoured, stories were told and with a fist bump and nod, off we went to our separate places.
Score card reads as follows:

Brits:1

Austians:1

Japs:2

Germans: 5

All equipment performed at the operators skill level.

I was home by 2:30 (even with a flat repair) 9D286B6F-9064-48A4-BD83-3296C08E6108.thumb.jpeg.ff896040e4a77a4085c35944d2f2ca5e.jpeg

and it sure doesn’t feel like a work day  🤠  if anyone asks, just tell them I was in a meeting please

Don't you just love tubeless tires!   Pull offending metallurgical intruder, plug, pump and play!    That happened to me about a week after I got my new tires.

Great write-up...you have a way with words.  Had a blast....as usual.   Really fun route and the scenery/vistas are hard to beat.    Seriously great group of people to ride with.  Big thanks to Mark and you for handling lead and sweep.  I agree, green bikes are the fastest. 😎   Thanks for sharing the pics.

I'm curious... did that homeowner come down to chastise you guys for parking (kinda) in her driveway while waiting in the shade?  Those of us dummies who sat in the sun couldn't make out the conversation.

Wish I could have joined you guys for lunch....the aroma coming off that place was killing me at 9:45 when we all met there.      Alas, responsibility called and I had promised to be back in my chair/chains for a customer that afternoon.

Here is one of my videos from the ride. Somehow I musta hit time-lapse mode on the GoPro, so it's different from my normal shooting. It begins at the hairpin turnoff where we dropped down to the wall. I'll post the other video where we rode down the switchbacks to 94 when it's done processing.

2nd vid is up.   This was taken as we hit the switchbacks down to 94...

Thanks for chiming in Pete. And for posting the vids.
Plugs: it took me 7 minutes to rummage through my gear and find them. And then dig around under the seat looking for the power cord.. and hooking up my ‘never used before’ pump. Pull screw, insert plug, twist and pull it out. Inflate to 33 lbs.

7 minutes. Now that I’ve been thru it, I’m sure I could do it again in 3-4 minutes start to finish.
I rode just under 100 miles. Speeds up to 100. Running sweep I like to hang back and skid steer around corners and roost out. I ended Friday and still tonight am at 33 lbs. Not even a half lb of loss. Plugs are awesome.

LOL at the rummaging and set up.  So true.

This is the kit I use.

...and their pump.   Super compact and light.

I pulled this out of my tire on the trail.  Thought it would take two plugs to fill the hole.     It's been several months now...no issue.

The lady that approached us with the golf cart was merely telling us that water trucks were going to be coming that way and making the turn up the driveway. So she was super nice and I thanked her for letting us know so we could move out of their way. Hunting for shade while you’re stopped and waiting is not always the easiest.
