Crawdaddy 96 Posted June 10, 2008 Lifted these tracks off GPSXchange......(always on the lookout for new/off beat Tracks to build up "our" SDAR Track library ) Check out this thread on D37 for write up/photos/add'l links with more info on crash sites: http://www.district37ama.org/forums/showthread.php?t=21867 Narrative from GPSXchange: 193 mile easy ride. Requires a plated dual sport bike with an absolute minimum fuel range of 90 miles. Mostly dirt roads and jeep trail with a sections of easy single track, sandwashes and a bit of paved road. The route starts at Kramer's Junction with gas available at Hinkley and Johannesburg. There is a bailout option from the Husky monument back to Kramers. The route passes by the following points of interest: Possible X-31 crash site (I have not confirmed this yet) Harper Lake/Lockhart area (was an early flying wing aircraft test facility) Gas at Hinkley (be sure to top it all the way off) Rainbow Basin Scenic Loop XB-70 Crash Site and Monument F-104 Crash Site and Monument Black Mountain Petroglyphs Husky Monument (fun sandwash and single track trail) Alternate bailout to Kramers with B-1 crash site along the way Cuddyback drylake bed (the KTM goes 92mph with stock gearing) Jo-Burg for gas then to Randsburg for lunch Randsburg to El Paso Mts via paved road Optional loop to Walsh cabin (great views!) Burro Schmidt Tunnel Edith E Cabin (check it out!) Mingus Mead and Dawson Cabins (near old WWII airstrip) X-15 Monument (Eagle Scout's project - very nicely done) Red Mountain (paved road - Trona Rd to 395 then back to dirt roads) Eagle (shaped) dry lakebed - very distinctive from the air Boron Radar (we used to use this site for INS overfly fixes back in the days before GPS) Closed Federal Minimum Security Prison X_Plane_Crash_Site_Tour.txt

Crawdaddy 96 Posted June 11, 2008 I'm not clear what to do with these tracks. I tried to rename as a .gpx and open with Google earth, but no love. Can someone point me in the right direction? thanks Renaming as a .gpx won't work because it's a .gdb (Garmin) file It's listed/attached in GPSXchange in both formats .gdb and .gpx......I only attached the .gdb file

Can someone point me in the right direction? thanks Here's a link the GPSXChange Thread with both .gdb and .gpx: http://www.gpsxchange.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1594 I generally only attach .gdb files because Garmin (.gdb) is sort of the dual sport std. I attached the .gpx flavor to this thread in case you're not registered on GPSXchange.....and if not, go sign up.....good/free resource.
