Great Ride Today in the Sidehack

Recommended Posts

Great ride today. My friend was meeting our other friends in Ramona for his 60th birthday ride, so we showed up and followed them...but there's no way I can come close to keeping up with their fast pace, so we branched off on our own to do some dirt at lower Grapevine Canyon and then to the powerline road. Stopped to talk to some other riders, let Doc out and next thing I see Doc come limping out of the desert bushes. He got some Cholla cactus stuck in both feet. No whining or yelping at all, even when I had to pull them out of his feet. Those things are nasty, and Doc is a tough boy.
Then to Borrego Springs for a takeout Carlee's burger and ate at Christmas Circle. A great day of riding.

Funny, it's a small world...as I was laying in the dirt road, picking the Cholla cactus out of Doc's feet, these 3 - 4x4's rolled up....this guy gets out and says, "hey, Randy and Doc, I know you from the Facebook page GS Giants"....what a way to meet in person !

Grapevine Canyon is on north side of 78, after you drop down to the desert floor after going thru the twisties in the Canyon just east of scissors crossing.

Grapevine Canyon goes up to S22 west of Ranchita.

Powerline road branches off Grapevine Canyon and heads east to Yaqui Pass by the Campground.

Google it, it's on maps.

Gt an Anza Borrego map of the area, all the good trails are on it.

Thanks Randy.

I found Grapevine Canyon...I see where it comes out on North side on S22....and the other end it seems to turn into Yaqui Wells Road where it comes out at the Yaqui campground.

I can't find anything related to Powerline road on Google maps.

Any brand suggestions for a good Anza Borrego map/location to get one?

I'd love to tour this area with some folks to get my bearings.  I'm still on 80/20 street tires so I'm not "ripping" thru trails.
