350thumper 337 Posted September 9, 2020 Hey erry body , I was out scouting trails through some thicket out past Needles, Ca. Noticed my passenger side pipe cover (number plate) was foating around and down. After further investigation noticed the nipple that goes into the grommett was burnt and it wouldn't snap on any more. So I decided to do some mcguyvering at home. Here is the side cover in like new condition. I really wanted to save the stock apperance. Underneath is the melted prong or nipple, had to cut it down to make it flat. After that I filed it down to make it easier to repair. Could of used a Dremel... Then I drilled it because I wanted to feel like I was being the master of my tool house. I had to make sure I used a slightly smaller hole for a snug fit. I found an old screw nut thingy and cut 1/4 inch of an old fuel line , also found some loctite super glue that has worked well on many past tinkerings. I installed the rubber on to the screw bolt and applied the glue to the threads. After this was done I went to the bike to check for any damage. It was a tight dry fit so I had to spit on the grommet hole and wipe it around with my finger to get it to go in. Here's the fit from the backside under the fender. I wanted it to stick out barely. But still come off when I want to do maintenance. The fit from the front , snug . There she is all fit and snug as a bug in a rug. Makes my bike look so pretty. Time to fix the seat now... Thanks for watching and responding.
