KDX 200 Up Date Progress 7-18-20

Recommended Posts

My original goal was just to  the minimum and freshen it up. I took the suspension off to have serviced, at that time it there wasn’t much left.  So today I got the frame back from powder coat. Tossed on some new foot pegs so I could secure the frame to my new Tusk bike lift.

I like those bikes but never owned one.  Might have to remedy that.....

The new powder coat on the frame looks great :thumbsup_anim: ...however, I like the paint scheme on the garage floor even more!  :good:

Definitely one of the all time best trail/enduro bikes ever made. FRP has the catalog of top tier KDX200 stuff to get er very dialed in. (Fredette Racing Products)

My favorite finish for aluminum is burnished, it’s kinda of like a big tumbler vibrator. The lower fork and swing arm had a factory paint that was very scratched and nicked. So first removed all with paint remover and bead blast, then off to the burnisher. The burnish harder the finish so no other coating is need on the aluminum.

I go the engine in, the only stuff that was done to it was new piston, rings, service power valve and rebuilt water pump. Swingarm of course all new seals and bearings. I also really dig the Tusk lift, I have a full lift also but my garage is full and being able to roll this Tusk one around is awesome.

My favorite this is finding a burnisher local, I use to go to West Covina for it. I do everything from engine cases, hubs and and other aluminum. It makes the bare aluminum tough and harder.

You are very detail oriented she looks beautiful!! Don't forget to burnish or at the least create a good bonded ground plane for engine to chassis.
