New Triumph Tiger in Rancho San Diego

Recommended Posts

Howdy folks.  I joined this forum quite a few years ago looking for info.  Well, I finally bit the bullet.     Picked up a new Triumph Tiger.   Looking forward to meeting some people and going on some rides.

I've ridden 22 years out of my life.   Grew up racing/riding motocross.   Stepped away from bikes for a number of years.  Then picked up a Harley which I have thoroughly enjoyed.   ...but I always wanted to venture off the road.   My old bones would be happy just doing simple rides (like Otay Truck trail or similiar)

Getting used to the bike still...  I did venture a ways up Otay Truck Trail.     Bike came with street tires so i'm not going hauling thru the dirt anytime soon.

Welcome to the forum 👍👍

Let’s ride sometime, I’m pretty close to you.

Otay has been my learning ground since I joined👍

Nice looking ride...

Over here in Jamul - we could hit a few (easy) dirt roads in the hood, help you acclimate a bit

Good luck and welcome

So quick question....where are the "easy" trails other than Otay Truck trail.  I see so many "fire" roads in the area....but they all seem to be gated.

Got some out in Ramona, although they have random gates sometimes.

Viejas Grade, Boulder Creek, Eagle Peak, etc. are also available.

Yes!  Thanks. :)  I think so too.   It's pretty incredible to ride.  Lot's of power, even handles phenomenal  for the "off road" version.  On the back roads it squirts from corner to corner.

The border road is also doable, like Otay, gotta watch out for BP coming around corners. The border road on Otay is hit and miss being open in these current times. You can start at Tecate also and head East, or you can go to Campo and start there too. I’d suggest going with someone though 👍👍

Curious why going with someone is recommended.  Safety issue?

I guess I’ll always suggest going with someone else, especially if you’re not familiar with the area.

Welcome, I'm also pretty new here and in East county. Been wondering the same thing about fire roads.

I've been on a couple rides on black mtn road out of Ramona. That's a good mellow rd to start on.

Post up next time you're heading out,  looks like a few of us would like to join

Yeah, sure! With a little notice, I should be down for weekend rides 👌

The last "noob" ride had less than 7 people rsvp and 19 show! Black mtn trail to palormar divide trail

So I think there will be interest

Wow...that looks like a blast.     I'm in.
