That Tunnel

Recommended Posts

Stumbled into this today near Tecate.

It must have a name. Anyone know?

Thats the trestle at Dogpatch, there used to be a fun bar and other distractions right there along the highway, anyway I used to ride over the trestle and on to Tecate for tacos etc.

So Dogpatch tunnel, there is a white line on the wall about half way thru denoting the border.

I have heard the BP will come down there in a hurry if you get that far in the tunnel.  I never tried, you are an outlaw.

I dunno if it always happens, but BP visited when we went in there. Nobody took a pic from the MEX side, though. 😀

BP said there are sensors in there, but who knows - they could've just been watching it.  As with other areas of the border, a simple barrier installed at the USA/MEX line would fix at least that spot.

I set off a sensor near this monument and got a grilling from BP.  I couldn't read the wording on it and had to get closer to see it.  Usually BP is pretty cool but this guy was a D. If you don't want people to read it, take the f'n words off.

We talked with various BP before and after our discovery. I always enjoy visiting with them. They saw our bikes parked there and drove right by, didn’t seem concerned. But I didn’t really want to go picnic on the other side in light of current sentiments.

Cool spot though

That was my experience. No attitude, just doing their job.

I remember when a train from the museum in Campo made daily runs to that tunnel.

I walked all the way thru Saturday, there was a ceiling collapse on the Mex side, would be rough to ride over but could be done.

If you hit it at top of 3rd gear you should be fine, landing beyond the rubble and on the track below.  Remember, pics or it didn't happen.
