Where does the money go?

Why also have ads if for many features this a pay to access site?

If this is a community forum, the details of the revenue should be posted online. Is it?

I would like to post free items to other San Diego adventure riders, and why should I pay for that? I mean, what is the relevancy of this site when district 37 and advrider are there, for free?

Honest questions... and honest ears await an earful!

Just a quick, short response...more to come later.

First, we don't ask for a mandatory membership fee.

Second, how many people do you think contribute here ? We're lucky if it's 100, and I assure you it's more like 50 people...@ 100 people, it means revenue would be $2000...that's not even close to what it costs to run and maintain this website.

Third, we just started getting advertisers and we don't charge them much compared to the work involved.

You shouldn't compare us to D37 or ADVrider, we are much smaller, and I'm sure they generate a lot more revenue than we do.

Thanks...

I feel that I get way more than my 20 bucks worth for contributing.  I have several websites and they are by no means cheap to set up, let alone maintain.

Short answer as well, I'll stay here where the community is cozy and courteous......

I don't see his post as a complaint more of an inquiry about the reasoning for a need for contribution since there are free sources.

I do agree though with above we'll worth the $20 if you choose to for the benefits I've used and seen

That's a fair comment regarding contributions. I don't use a smartphone and try to avoid posting online. OTOH I am literally trying to give things away for free, so am I really looking for a free ride...?  \\_(ツ)_/¯

Not an option for non-supporting members.

This is an excellent point- were I you, that's where I'd go to give things away, and to complain about it.

Bye.

Naturally this will generate some variable feedback from the club, any maybe sometimes thats a good thing...

I respect Bp619's ability to cut through and play the neutral card, in the same breath recognize the frustration of other members who have received & contributed way more then monetary value to & from this site - me being one of them.

At a base level - the few bucks you can donate I firmly believe goes towards the cost, time & administration of keeping this crazy family alive

If you can lay down a few thousand for a moto and $4+ a gallon to ride it...I'm certain finding 20 to 50 bucks to donate should not be much of an issue.

I'm just a nobody who talks funny and likes to take pictures, though it seems on 6/4/18 you thought we were the BEST, as you were looking for a Joe hauler and many many people came out offering one for you  - (someone who nobody knows) that kind of community / camaraderie is worth 20 bucks right there..

Unfortunately for me its more about "Where do all the years go"

Can honesty say some of the members I've met in this club - I consider to be very, very good friends - we all know you can't put a price tag on that.

This is a pretty loose crowd though if you wanna come in with a few jabs you should be able to absorb some feedback and let the geniality resonate a little.

- If you wanna borrow 20 bucks PM me

To Follow Up - Just finished working over my accounts and was reminded Where the Money Goes. Evidently it goes to:

Restaurants, fuel, Home Depot, groceries, offspring, water and power companies, birthdays/holidays, Target, Motoworld, Slaven's, Rocky Mountain Motorcycle, Kendall's, Netflix, PBS, Acorn and a place called Dualsport-SD, ( SDAR ).

After making this list and thinking how I spend my time during the month,  I conclude that I need to give more money the SDAR in order to balance my cost to value ratio.  I think contributing twice a year could be my new standard.

Hey RiggerDan,  can I arrange a Direct Deposit?

I would like to set up direct deposit also but make it enough to pay for a new bike every few years, would there be interest?

Heck the entertainment value of this site is more than 20 bucks per month, I mean per year.

There's two sites I use that have been a wealth of information and meeting like-minded riders. Sdar is one of them. I contribute to both. Small price (literally) to pay for such benefits.
