El Camino Del Diablo Gila Loop

Recommended Posts

With permits secured and ligit dirtbike knobbies mounted Kato and I trucked the bikes out to Yuma.

Plan: Complet the U.S. portion of Camino Del Diablo then wander back to the truck somehow...

The days were perfect and the nights were about 20 deg cooler than forecast. It was cold at night... frost on the tents.

We took our time and stopped at interesting sights along the way. Smell the roses ya know...

Ride checklist:

400 miles

Portions of the AZ Peace Trail

Historical trail

Volcano field

Flower blooms

Border patrol

Filtering water from a well

Roosting wet sand

Comically cliche campsite backdrops (cactus, owls hooting, coyotes howling, fires crackling, Rock formations, abandoned ranch)

Campfires every night

Puking

Hammering down wet washes getting smacked in the face with branches

Singletrack on hillsides

night-time hill climbs

makeshift fuel containers

driving the abandoned vehicle photo op

Beer by the river at sunset

It was a Great ride Kato, thanks so much!

That's the stuff!  You know it's good when you see the pictures and read the write up and wish you were there.

Yep.  Had all 4 of my kids and their spouses along with all 6 grand kids, and  assorted friends for weekend of camping and riding. Great weekend.
