Covered in Dust 162 Posted June 11, 2017 Here are a few pics from New Mexico. There were a few water crossings. Here's Tracy following an overflowing river close to the Colorado border. I'm pretty sure this was the 1st time any of us ever had a Llama walk through our camp. These were the only crashes we had on the whole trip. 1st my bike fell over one night in camp. Then Tracy fell over in camp and this is Van's bike after it fell over in camp. No flats, mechanical issues or crashes in 1600 miles on the trial. We saw Elk, deer, antelope, turkeys, bears, llamas and a few other creatures on the trail, and some pretty interesting people in some of the small towns including a guy in red underwear at a Subway shop that wanted to join us on our ride. This is called Teakettle rock. Always find a Kug sticker wherever we go. The boys Tracy, Ken and Van taking a break. Kug cutting some fresh tracks in the White Sands National Monument. Nice views on the northern half of the ride. Like most BDR's this one had it's good parts and some pretty boring parts. Getting back to the start was a bit of a grind on the small bikes, but it's all good. Already planning our next trip CiD

kkug 146 Posted June 11, 2017 Thanks Chris . A good ride but we decided that we have more fun on loop rides -- even though we made it a loop. My throttle thunb has gone numb ! Remember ! This tiny restaurant is famous for its green chile - people come from all over-- we did too !
kkug 146 Posted June 11, 2017 Of course had the exploding trailer tire . Had a good time with the local tire shop. Learned a bit on noodleing -- and also when to leave when you see a rubber glove come out of someones pocket. The Keystone was cold and in general the most fun part of the trip. Bp619 104 Posted June 11, 2017 Good stuff awesome to have a long ride and zero problems locals must have gotten bored with cow tipping and saw your bikes
kkug 146 Posted June 11, 2017 We did not get to enjoy the finish of the NMBDR because the weather was moving in. A lot of straight roads for miles !!! This is the third time I have been to this ranch. Outside of the Navajo Nation .
Bagstr 287 Posted June 12, 2017 Congrats on the Successful Voyage - Chris, Van Tracy and Kug. Say Kug, did you install those 100mph rated trailer tires for CID to haul through the states?? Tell us campers how your luggage solutions worked out. While you are at it, tell us how those "New Tech" KTMs worked. We all want to emulate your success! MacDuncan 131 Posted June 12, 2017 Great stuff Fellas, looks like diverse terrain and maybe not too cold and wet and not too hot. I have to agree with the idea of loops having the most potential to avoid the drone home. Or get a shuttle driver, like maybe..... Advent-uber shuttle company. Goofy Footer 539 Posted September 1, 2022 @Covered in Dust how were the temps on this ride? Where did you guys park the truck? The Continental Divide Trail starts in NM not too far from the beginning of the AZBDR. I’ve done 2 BDRs and am jonesing for more.
Covered in Dust 162 Posted September 1, 2022 From what I remember the temps were fine the whole ride. We did hit a storm at the Colorado border that was interesting for a few hours. We trailered to some city and stayed overnight in a hotel where we left the truck until our return. I don’t remember what city but maybe someone else will chime in.
