I'd be shocked if: combining gas milage, traffic impact, and emissions (per mile traveled), my bike was near as bad as an suv, as far as overall impact... but; I've been shocked before.

High performance motorcycle engines are primitive in regards to emissions when compared to the more highly regulated and monitored automotive industry. It's a matter of numbers.

Besides, a lot of riders truck their bikes farther than they ride them... so either way you're covered...
