A Message from SDG&E®

Reduce Your Use Days

Summer's over, but hotter than normal temperatures that often continue into October can, and do, affect the region’s supply and demand for power. That’s where Demand Response (DR) programs come in. These programs aim to reduce electricity demand when that energy is nefeded most.

SDG&E® calls for customers to temporarily reduce their energy use a few times per year, typically during those hottest days. We call these events Reduce Your Use days. When this happens, both residential and commercial customers are asked to reduce their energy consumption by, for example, cycling their central air conditioning units off for a few hours, using lighting sparingly, or maybe holding off on starting a new load of laundry. For those participating in the Summer Saver program (sdge.com/summersaver), there are even financial incentives when you allow SDG&E to cycle your air conditioner on and off during limited hours.

So the next time you hear that it’s a Reduce Your Use day, you can help! Follow these easy steps to lower your energy use:

• Turn your thermostat up a few degrees

• Hold off on running major appliances until after 6pm

• Turn off all unnecessary lights and office equipment

By doing your part to help save energy, you’ll lower your bill and help the region when energy demand is high.

For more ideas on how to save energy, visit www.sdge.com/saveenergy.
