Our fearless founder KTMrad, Randy Lazar will be in town very soon, so it is a good opportunity for us to have a little get-together, and hear about his latest travels south of the border in mainland Mexico with his dog Doc Holliday and their motorcycle sidecar. Dinner and socializing starting at 6:00 pm at the usual place in Poway:https://www.kaminskisbbq.com/ Later in the evening, we will also be discussing the Mountain Dash plans also. So come on in and say howdy, and get together with your fellow SDAR club members.
  2. Just a heads-up from our local friendly National Forest ranger....for those wanting to head out to Corral Canyon on the weekend of March 26-27. There will be a big mountain bike event being held there on that weekend. The trails will be open, but you be having to share them with bike racers who should be given the right of way.
  3. Areas of it will be rideable. Some routes are closed for the season though. Skyline, Clarks Grade, some of the routes on the north side of the lake will have closed gates. We found that when the gates are closed, it's usually for good reason. The routes have frozen dirt and so also, ice on top. You should probably look on the San Bernardino Forest website to see what routes are closed for the winter. That, or call a rangers station.

Welcome aboard. Glad to have you join the event. It's a good way to get some saddle time and meet other riders.
  5. There is enough space for 20 tent campers to set up, already reserved and it is free. If you have a RV or something like that, you will have to pay and reserve your own space.
  6. It is big bike friendly. Not any really technical sections, so larger bikes and newbies will benefit from the route layout.
  7. If that is the case, I guess they aren't too concerned with laws about shooting trespassers. Perhaps they have something important on their property that they don't want anybody to find out about.
  8. I had to go back pretty far through the years to find a sharp group shot with any members that are still active.

How to "like" a post or pic?

I think it may be because only supporting members have the privilege to use that icon. I checked a few other posts, and all the likes seemed to be from supporting members on the posts that I looked at.

Strange. I see the icons in both posts on the screen shots. You can't see the icon on your own posts until somebody activates it.

How to "like" a post or pic?

There should be a little gray heart icon in the lower right corner of each post. If you touch that, it should display a little column of 4 responses that you could choose from. It should look about the same on a PC, where you guide the cursor over the icon and click the mouse on what you want.
  12. February was a busy month for trail riding. The weather ranged from shirt sleeve to snowy cold. I rode solo, with friends, big bike, little bikes, two and four stroke. It was all good.

    Welcome to the forum, Apple.😎
  14. Just a heads up for all you trail riders that might be thinking of heading out to McCain Valley this weekend. Sunday will see a good crowd for a trials event being held there. The sections will be bunched up near the first staging area for the most part, making them easily accessible for competitors and spectators alike. It snowed today out there, and the dirt should be great for the weekend. So whether you want to see or be in a trails event, or hit the trails, just remember that there will be a lot of people out there on Sunday....probably on Saturday as well.
  15. Plenty of trails all over the place.
  16. Nice. Best conditions right now, for that ride. Haven't been down there since 2019 or so.

    Kinda equilibrium

Well, it is a hybrid tire, and is supposed to exhibit the some of the best characteristics of a trials tire , without sacrificing some of the best characteristics of a knobby. Some other hybrids don't do as well at both. I like Kenda tires, and use the Parker TD on the back of my 501. I recently put a matched set of one Kenda's extreme enduro tires, the Gauntlets, on my Beta Xtrainer, and I like them a lot. They stick well and work on most terrain, and wear better than the Shinko 216 Extreme that was on my bike when I bought it. Kenda makes plenty of good choices for trail riding, that's for sure.
  18. The dirt should be nicer by then. Things had dried out quite a bit by yesterday. It was still a nice warm day, and the local trials club was busy getting ready for next weekend's event.
  19. Headed out with Mr. 501 for a little exercise. I came across somebody on a KTM 790 who was out sampling some of the single track out there. Looked like a lot of work, but he seemed to be having fun. Maybe he is from this forum?

    Fallen riders post

Not a member of SDAR, but a really great guy, and a good rider, especially considering that he started to ride just a few years ago. I had the pleasure to meet and ride with Tom Duncan last year. In the spring, I took him on a tour of McCain Valley. Just months later, while on a ride with his friends, a massive heart attack would take him right off the trail and into eternity.😥

It used to be a pretty popular climbing spot in the 80s. I would ride up there and watch people climb up and repel down. One time, I watched as three guys prepared to come down. The first two checked their lines and zipped smoothly down. The third guy gave his line a test, hopped over the edge and plummeted all the way to the ground. Somehow, he managed to avoid serious injury, but it was pretty scary to watch.

The rock looks more impressive from close up and ground level.😁
