    Newb alert! Newb alert!

Hey Jason, we should go ride together sometime soon. I wish I had more hours on my bike than I do. I went on vacation for 2 weeks a couple days after I bought it and a busy weekend last week. I still have the dealer tags on it and less than 100 miles. I will be getting some new boots and pants this weekend and then i'm all set to go ride!!! What mods have you done? I'm waiting to break the bike in before doing any major mods but I will be getting a new FMF pipe and programmer soon as well as some new nobbies, probably some Dunlop 606's. I did get rid of that blob of a tailight/plate assembly and put on the DRC edge kit with 601 blinkers front and back, some Acerbis rally pro handguards and i'm waiting on some custom shroud graphics before putting on my black plastics. Palomar or Tenaja sounds good to me possibly for next Saturday. Woodrow

Thanks! I love the bike so far. I did tons of research before buying it and the bike got great reviews and seemed well suited for the type of riding I want to do. I also like the maintenance schedule and fuel injection. The only bummer would be the 2 gal. tank but the bike gets 70 MPG though.

I borrowed the hauler from a friend and don't see a logo of the company who made it on it, it does look well made and very similar to a Joehauler. Has anyone used the add a bike hauler? I like the idea of not needing any straps.

    Newb alert! Newb alert!

Thanks for the replies everyone! Sounds like I will be loading the bike up to get to some of the better trails. I have a shell on my truck so I used a hitch mounted hauler to get my bike home from the dealer and was sweating the whole way! It just looks a little sketchy seeing it rocking on the hauler but I'm sure alot of members are using them with no problems. Bikeslut, I did notice there is another member who rides the same bike that lives in Oceanside too but I'm not the same person. Joliet, you're right about staying healthy. That's why I'm looking more for the mellow trails and riders. I shattered my ankle when I was younger on my YZ and had a couple surgeries to fix it along with knee surgery and shoulder/collarbone issues as well. That's why I stopped riding for years and just stuck with surfing. I can't even explain how great it feels getting back on a bike though. Just gonna take it slow at first. Cheers, Woodrow

Thanks Mimi, I figured there wouldn't be many trails in my neck of the woods but how about De Luz or Tenaja Truck trail for a newb? I have seen photos of rides in that area that look fun. Or Nate Harrison? Woodrow
  7. Hello everyone, just wanted to drop in and introduce myself. I just bought a new bike and i'm looking for anyone intersested in riding with a total newbtard. I rode a lot when I was a kid on 2 stroke YZ's but it's been 20 years or so since I have ridden, until lately. I live in Oceanside and can ride every Saturday and also some weekdays in the late afternoon if work permits. I have an 08 WR 250R that seems to suit me just fine. I've just been riding it around the neighborhood to break it in(only 75 miles on the odometer so far) but looking to hit up some trucktrails or fire roads with someone who can show me some easy rides in North County. I lurked on this forum for months before buying my bike and everyone here seems totally cool. I'm glad I joined such a great forum! Thanks
