Welcome. Ya just missed a great big bike camping trip - as did I - but there'll be more. I had a Tiger XCx for a year but went back to the simple, like me, DR650. See ya out there.
-
I've had both and both are gone for different reasons. Didn't check the Tiger, but always 50+ MPG on the '05 DL650. Clean air with a Madstadt shield. A consideration - parts availability and price. Call Ted at Southbay Motorsports. He handles Triumph and Suzuki - might let you get your question answered. Good luck with the hunt.

Incredible stuff so far. When I did Lipencott on my DR, I damn near knocked myself out when the windscreen hit me battling some rocks. Well done - and 2up - amazing. -
Friday the 13th... Devils Highway... a gaping hole in the earth... what could go wrong?

Perfect! When I was stationed in PHX, we used to go up to the rim often to get out of the heat - and for the views. Thx for taking the time to post up. -
The owner of Grove Motorcycle owned one - been a few years since I've been in. He was always good to deal with. Might try there...?

Welcome. Great group to get the lay of land from. I'd even suggest doing the ride tomorrow - even if you aren't going to camp - to see some of the area. -
Welcome aboard. I had the opportunity to ride a buddies 701 - smoooooth gobs of power. Enjoy!

I think Jim Martin's guys do - and you can meet you new boss in the process.

It'll be an adjustment for his new family and happy to have him back.

Congrats! Jeff, the owner of Procycle is on his final leg of an Oregon - Ohio - Southern Loop/AZ, etc - back..... documented HERE He'll get some suspension work done by Cogent Dynamics when he gets back - but to be fair - Jeff's been in the moto business forever and is picky about his machines. I like the guy cuz he developed and rides a DR790, also - kit avail.

I get the Battery Tender brand. I used a BT Jr for over 6 years, rotating between the rolling stock. Same with the pigtail install on all toys as BP. I'd charge for a day, make sure I had a green (fully charged) light, give it a days rest, then move to the next one. It finally gave out in year 7 or 8. I got the full sized BT a few months ago and it gets the same drill. I did buy a lithium specific separate charger for the WR since it has that battery.

Some excellent points here. I believe the dirt transfers to street as well. All of us probably have examples of our dirt skills (the little I have) coming into play on the street. Good stuff, Mike.

Sounds like a good fit, Allen. A few of us DR650 riders here, along with other "big bikes." I've seen more of the Western US with this group than I ever would've alone, so jump in. I've built 2 DR650's to my liking - should've never sold the first one - so if you ever want to eliminate the little gremlins on the bike, or just go over it, I'm available. In the Rancho SD/Jamul area. Welcome aboard.

Heat and water sapping technical sections to water coming from the sky. Good stuff. All I could think when CID melted his credit card was - C-Daddy'd be out of "camping gear" at that point. -
Good stuff. After finally making it to Bodie, then all the mining history on the CO trip, this'll def go on the list. Thx for the post.

There are a pair of DRZ's in the for sale section. For inexpensive and reliable entry into the sport - I'd grab those in a second. @piratemonkey

Thx for taking the time to post up. I had one of those pass through my hands but it went to TNT quickly. Should've kept it, but....... In recent 'net wanderings, I found a Beta ALP 4.0 that uses that motor. Too bad it's not imported to the US.- 5 replies

Welcome. Plenty of big bike riders here, willing to wander. As mentioned, post up for a partner (or 10) or watch the upcoming rides section and join in.
