Wanted - RV Storage - East County

What: 18 Ft Toy Hauler, so safely 25' back to hitch. Where: prefer East County. Secure (gated) My storage location needs changing. I would appreciate info re: good storage areas. Of course I'm looking for low $$ if it's available. I'll check the usual, Craigslist, etc, ..... Thanks
  3. Update: No fixed location yet. Pending Erick's location pick if he arrives Friday evening. If he doesn't go, I'm calling just to the left as Wheeler makes a hard right. Open to suggestions. Schwinn: Out Strega: Dropping by from OW Erick: Definite maybe & possible site choice Tree: Maybe All levels informal ride at your own pace when u want or sit by the camp. Come out for the day or overnight...or one ride. I am taking my wife and her parents to Supersition Saturday morning, staying overnight and leaving after a morning ride. This will be our first trip with the toybox so bring marshmellows in case I light the thing on fire getting the stove working. (I actually had all appliances checked by Webb's 2 weeks ago) This will be very informal. I ride intermediate. Laura's Dad is experienced on the street but new to the dirt. He will be on my WR250. Laura & her Mom will be doing very slow, casual quad runs. We will be bringing horseshoes, footballs, etc. Everyone welcome, kids, sig others, etc. I don't know where we'll be yet as arrival time will be around 9:00 - 9:30 and there will be people out already. Open to suggestions or if someone goes out Friday.....they can pick it. If there's any interest in showing up, we can get the "I'll be driving..." on the post. Look forward to meeting those who can join in!

    Sunday the 9th

Didn't get the 450 back from C & D. Waiting on parts. I'll eval the WR250 Saturday and decide for sure. Will chime back in with a definite answer. Would it be safe to assume there will be "chili reminders" from Saturday's events at the rodeo grounds?

I'm so happy I'm pedantic. My wife says I have OCD. "No honey, just pedantic" I know it's a slight push of the definition but after having to look it up I thought I'd try using it in a sentance. Good points made....
  7. Completely open to location. The flat area by the sand wall is good for viewing. I usually park off to the left of the hard right turn (about 5 miles in on Wheeler). It gives a good overview of riding area and quick access to a variety of riding. Since others may go out Friday, first come first pick. Let's post descriptions or photos of what/who/etc to look for when everyone gets there.

    Local shop experiences

ROCKET, The guy treated me like doggie poop ...... Ditto when I was getting back into it. Dead set on a Triumph Tiger but the attitude in the shop talked me out of the place. Was so disgusted I quit looking for a while. Found the best deal in OC but finances took a sudden turn and I put it off. (maybe I should call and thank them)
  9. Sounds good Paul, and Mr. Tree. Hopefully Christi will join us with the young ones if she doesn't go to OW.

    Local shop experiences

I contacted San Diego Sportcycle and C & D. Both nice to deal with but went with C & D because they do all the work in house and SDS outsources valve work, etc. Their "guy" wouldn't be able to get my bike done as he was backed up. I opted for more than I originally wanted done (an affliction we all probably have) so we'll see how it goes.

I'm in if I get the 450 back from C & D in time. Some mods in the works. Not plated tho.... if this affects where u want to go, I'll join in on another ride.

"The Tugger " & Tusk Valve Stem Puller

Took ur advice and added the back too. I'm happy with the grab handles on the WR but looked again at routing a tow strap thru them and the Tugger would be a cleaner application. ...and yes, I am new here. Incredible pics on the link. My kinda vacation.

"The Tugger " & Tusk Valve Stem Puller

    K. Ordered a front one. Note: they have a disclaimer saying it's for occasional lifting on the "can I tow with it" question. So no whinin' from me if it breaks under tow. I googled it to search for opinions. Do not order http://www.tlctugger.com/ , it's not the same thing. Who knew....

    Still on the hunt

http://www.co.san-diego.ca.us/hr/ New postings all the time and you can select from a job interest list where they email you when a job posting comes open. Nice thing about the county is the jobs are all over, uh, well, the county...so one could be near home. Okay benefits and retirement. Get your foot in the door with something and move where you want. It's a gov't job...you know how it goes.

    Small toy hauler

The seller may have forgotten to list it, but if there's 30 gals of fresh & a shower, there should be a grey water tank. Certainly lighter than the usual and storage would be less of an issue. For reference, we bought a 2004 Carson Titan 18 foot with all the basics for $7K about 2 months ago. It is better equip'd for 1700 more but also weighs 4000 lbs dry. If it was just for me and an occasional extra person, I'd get the unit on your link. With everyone bailing out of their toys, there should be some negotiating room. my $.02

    New member from North County

From another noob, Welcome! I'll ride pretty much anything, any time....uh with permission (hi honey!). Not plated yet but in process. Street rides with dirt roads okay (V-Strom compliant). Of those I've met, a very good group! Nice ride post on the link.
  17. I'm guessing this is Nov not Oct. I may make it with the kid. Fixed. Hmmm..more coffee. Thanks!

    HOME!

As a (peacetime) veteran and father & father-in-law of Marines who have done a combined 5 tours, I'm proud to say..... WELCOME HOME!!! The next time you go to the desert, it will be on two wheels! Spend some time with your family....
  20. http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showthrea...ighlight=mexico Over 130 people killed in a month or two???? I wouldn't go across the border myself but to each his/her own. Granted, most are in a drug war but the cross fire isn't worth the risk. It's a desparate place in my humble opinion. I just returned from a conference which in one presentation highlighted those in law enforcement south of the border who helped us up here on cases. 3 killed in the last year. Should speak volumes. I love riding and need to get back in the water but will do it here at Home.
  21. I'm sure ShocknAwe will post pictures and video but here's an overview from my perspective. My son-in-law and I found the day use area thanks to BS's directions and discovered it was a bit cooler than expected. We arrived early so a quick trip around an unfamiliar area was in order. The variety of topography and surfaces made the initial ride and all day interesting. From hard pack to sandy banked switchbacks combined with moderate elevation changes kept the entertainment value up. We met Shock and neighbor Rachel and took the Wounded Knee outer loop while Todd was offloading. Rachel was on her fourth trip to the dirt (ever) on a newly purchased Yamaha XT225. A great bike for her and she improved all day. Very friendly and happy to be in the sun, on the dirt. Shock & I traded sweep throughout the day with lead changing hands as well. No mishaps and nothing but smiles at the end. Successful in my book. Brian (Son-in-Law) and I made a decision to try Salsa Lynda on the way out (blink) of Blvd. A menu full of Mexican food led me to order what I was in the mood for. A cheeseburger & fries. Frozen pattie and all. Surprisingly good and the "get ur own chips and salsa" bar stemmed the hunger 'til the food arrived. A fun ride, friendly group.

Great pics! As I noticed one bike "without plate", I'd be interested in any rides in this area. If you can provide the start point, I'd appreciate it.

    2009 LowCal 250 Rally

After reviewing the links, it's a mostly street thing with graded dirt roads. BMW's with sidecars to Dakar, V-Stroms and dual sports.

I won a brand new bike!

.....If you get the 530 and don't want it, I'm sure SOMEONE here would take it off your hands Hmmmm. This may work if you would be interested in an '06 WR450 with a Rekluse set up (have the OEM clutch set up too). Throttle stop and pee shooter removed & carb adjusted accordingly. Total of 25-30 hours on the bike. Shop manual, blah, blah. I'm plate challenged right now (don't know if that's PC or not) and would be interested in talking about some cash and a bike coming ur way. Oh, and CONGRATULATIONS!
