I know the state is no longer allowing retrofit of dirt bikes to make them street legal. About a year ago, I had heard that CA had revoked the license for some of the converted bikes. Is this still going on? Also, has anybody bought a converted dirt bike and have DMV refuse to renew the registration? I love my GS, but am thinking about getting something more dirt capable.

Michael Crichton wrote a excellent novel, "State of Fear" about the global warming hysteria. While the story is fiction, the science behind it is real. He cites the published papers. With regard to global warming, his approach is that of a skeptic. Neither pro- or anti- global warming, his conclusion seems to be that we do not know enough to jump to the conclusions of the "Inconvient Truth" crowd. And the story is a very entertaining.

Appreciate the offer to try one of your bikes. I think I'll take you up on it. I would be willing to give it a shot on my GS, but I've also been thinking I need to get something smaller and lighter for the dirt. When and where do we meet? I'm coming from San Diego, near Santee.

I could make it Monday. What level ride is this? I have intermediate skills.
