    Saturday Afternoon the 14th

Aaron, thanks for the hospitably of the lunch and soda. I had a nice but just short ride from PQ to Lakeside to meet the Chief and watch him pull the clutch off his VMax. I sure wish I would not be out of town to make the maintenance day at his house. Thanks again. Kelly
  2. Randy, I love reading TAT write ups hoping some day I may get a chance to ride some of it. Now that you have teased us some are you going to make us suffer much waiting for the next chapter. How about a hint, 1 or 2 days or else I will be checking computer every time I walk by. What a great story already. Kelly
  3. I can't wait to see it. I will be over in a couple hours.

    newb ride

This is YOUR ride...as I said in PM... Track riding is not as different as some would have you believe... Except one biggie; don't expect a handful of front brake will stop you... Wait.... You'll eventually stop, but don't expect to be upright and happy Andy; ask a lot of questions while we are out there... I'm sure Dug or I will be able to help out Andy, see just like I told you at my house about the people on this site will not dog the newb. I have only had the chance to go on one weekend with some group members and had so much fun. Safety was always encouraged.

    newb ride

Andy, stop cutting yourself short. I think after meeting and talking to you at my house you are going to be fine. Now I did notice like myself you are a little short legged so don't get hung up on a rock or side hill the wrong way. Stay with in you limit. I look forward to seeing some photos.

    Saturday Afternoon the 14th

Hey Chief, I have a few hours of free time in the mid morn noon time and need to get out for a ride on the Harley. We have never met but I would like to. thanks Kelly
  7. Andy, glad to hear you are getting it. Don't forget to shoot a photo with your bike and that new gear on. Be the way did the riding pants fit?
  8. My favorite pic so far. Nice ride and great job on the photos. This too is my favorite photo. Did you plan the composition of the S-Curve/Lead-In-Line The one thing I like about this SDAR group is all the photos and so many good ones from everyone, keep them coming.
  9. I went to VMD in 2006 and what a blast it was. Every kind of motorcycle made was there, the biggest all motorcycle swap meet of all, vintage road race, motocross, trials and cross country all in the same weekend. All your old motorcycle hero's are there. Also being able to visit the AMA museum was out of this world. This year I also heard that Roger DeCoster will be riding MX. You should see this event sometime.
  10. Yea lets see photos of the bike in action.

    The Motocross Files on Tonight

If you are not old enough to have gone to Carlsbad Raceway in the 70s you missed what real motocross was all about. Check out the Motocross Files tonight on Speed at 7pm.
  12. I checked the NUETECH web site and it looks really cool. Is anyone here using the product?? and were do you go to get a SDAR Price??
  13. Great photos, what a great day for a ride. Since my wife worked 6 days this week it was a Honey Day for me. I need to get out on those trails it looked like a fun ride.
  14. Hi Tom, this guy did the forks on our 02 YZ 125. His price is very good and he is a certified mechanic. Moto Works 760 815 5236 his name is Steve. He does work at a local shop in the race dept and does the Moto Works from his house. Kelly
  15. I agree again with you. This is definitely the rule I follow, sometimes I like to where open face on a trail ride.
  16. Andy This is partly to annoy my colleagues on SDAR but also partly serious. I have been wearing the same pair of good quality leather boots for over 30 years. Check out real leather instead of synthetic plastics that crack and are heavy and uncomfortable. You will actually wear them. Here is one of my pair of boots. Yes they are over 30 years old but all I do is oil them once a year. I agree here. I have been riding a long time and have not had a problem with all leather. I just started wearing a roost guard 2 years ago because it evens out the weight of my camel pak. Get out and ride and you will see what you will need. My order of biz is helmet, boots and gloves then add as you go. There is a bunch of great used deals on Craigslist for boots and pants. I have been running into first turns jammed with bikes with these and no problems.

Need an old 18" street tire

Here are some photos on the Dyno. this is the big twin torn down. We had to work off the Dyno cause the other lifts were full. about two weeks after back together with new heads, bored cylinders, gear driving cams, hi output oil pump and more first Dyno run to set up for break in up to 3500 rpm. The bike now has 500 break in miles and now tomorrow we will change the oil and run and set the fuel air mix through the complete RPM range at different throttle positions. Then the finale run is what they call the money run to see the max performance to compare to the baseline run we did before the bike had the new parts. Thats me on the bike. This is the shop owners Dave on the bike and Duane setting the maps on the computer. I fill lucky they brought me in after I got the axe from the North County Times after 26 years. My pay is low but what I'm learning is price less. Kelly

  20. As we the Hodaka Club start planning for our next Hodaka Day's event in June, I thought I would share a link from one of the club members that made a 2400 mile ride to Hodaka Day's last year on a 175cc Hodaka. Enjoy http://www.jhmand.com/hodaka/2008/2008-7.html If you liked that check out the link to the event, I think we have one of the best clubs in the nation and put on one of the best events. http://www.jhmand.com/hodaka/2008/ Enjoy. 21. The first race of the AHRMA season took place last weekend with great results for the 100cc class and Hodaka riders. Forgive me about the Hodaka stuff but I am a founder officer of the Hodaka Club and for five years we tried to get a 100cc class in AHRMA and last year they let us in. The 100cc class was the 3rd largest class at the event. The track was great at Arizona Cycle park. We had Hodaka Club members flying in from the east we had plenty of bikes for everyone. I gave up my both of my 100s to a couple of them and rode a 125 in the 50 plus class. They highlight of my weekend was my daughter racing her first race in the woman novice class. I felt like puking as she was on the starting gate and I didn't get any action shots of her riding. She did well and took first place then was moved up to intermediate Her recieving her award from the number one woman expert Tami Rice who is also the AHRMA Southwest Coordinator. For me my big challenge was riding a 125cc Hodaka in the 50 plus class where everyone rides big bore bikes. But I had a secret weapon. The Harry Taylor bike or Harry as we call it. If you read my other post in the Race section you know about Harry. This bike was Harry's race bike he rode until he turn 70 five years ago. That's a 39 mm carb and a banshee reed set up on a 125 as well as the Maico forks. I think I had a good day and by no means expected this out come. So here is a very proud father the other Hodaka Club winners and my results from last season with a 3rd in National, 1st in the Southwest and 2nd last week. If you ever thought about racing try Vintage MX. I started about 3 years ago. Its fun and you 99% will return to work on Monday and meet a ton of great people also. And how can you get hurt on a little 100 its a blast and if anyone want to try it let me know, you can ride my bikes. Thanks Kelly

    Arizona Vintage National

Here is a link to photos that show more others bikes and race photos. Mark Holloway posted this on one of our sites. I've posted a number of photos of Hodaka riders at last weekends AHRMA event in Buckeye, AZ. The link it... http://www.vintagemx.us/event_photos/AHRMA...na%202_7_09.htm The Hodaka guys were out in force and very FAST! Mark Holloway
  23. I will be heading to Buckeye Arizona this weekend to race the first race of the season. The Arizona Cycle Park has a great track and will give a full report on Monday. In the mean time the bikes are ready to go. I will race the 100cc Intermediate class as well as the over 50 age class on a small bore bike. I ride a 74 Hodaka 100cc Superrat. The bike in front is my main bike and I also have a backup bike. They have a few mods also. I have a plastic tank, 34mm forks, narrowed seat and for the trick parts I have a aftermarket swing arm, Harry Taylor pipe and engine porting. I will give you a little history on Harry. He worked for Hodaka in the R&D Department and is still trying to make them go fast. We will have his 75th birthday party at Hodaka Day's this June I'm lucky to know him as a personal friend and great guy helping us Hodaka Racers. I give you the after race story with a bunch of photos. Thanks Kelly
