I wonder if that private chopper was hired by the family? Whoever is flying it is following known motorcycle trails. Heading up from Marron Valley toward Dogjunction... spitting off on that dirt side trail now... https://planefinder.net/flight/N34WH Border patrol chopper continues looping last ping location: https://planefinder.net/flight/N4048L Edited Sunday at 06:04 PM by tvscum

    Rider missing in OTAY area

Hi all, this in regarding the search for Bobby up on Otay Mountain. I talked to the Sheriff's Command Post and was asked to pass on the following: The only information known for sure is the last cell phone ping had an 800 meter radius and could have been deflected off hillsides making it hard to pinpoint. They haven't decided on one lake or any other, if at all. In other words, Bobby can still be anywhere. They are monitoring social media and any leads they can get off of there, but there is a lot of speculation and assumptions being posted which is not helping. A major issue right now is the amount of inexperienced riders and 4-wheelers that are up there, aside from the sheer volume of people up there. These people are crashing, rolling, or blocking access routes that is preventing Sheriff's, Fire, and SAR teams from solely focusing on the search itself and accessing points they need to access and search. Sheriff's welcomes assistance with the search but is asking for Expert/Advanced riders and Expert/Advanced small ATV's only to be up on the mountain searching, for everyone's safety and their ability to focus on the search. They are also unable to coordinate search efforts by the public due to the inherent dangerous conditions of mountain riding and search efforts up there. They can't tell private citizens to put themselves at risk, which is what would happen if they were to coordinate it. Sheriff's would like anyone with any information to call their Dispatch center at (858) 565-5200. Stay safe!

    Rider missing in OTAY area

I think first is to let the LEO do what they are going to do and then take to the hills if they open it up. I am sure we can figure something out to create a map that show what trails have been searched if it comes to that.

If this is true regarding the cell phone and K-9, people should keep there distance form that area until the LEO's do their search and make their assessments.

  17. U.S. Forest Service - San Bernardino National Forest April 24 at 5:08 PM · Update on Recreation Closures The San Bernardino National Forest is part of the USDA Forest Service’s Pacific Southwest Region. On March 25, 2020, Regional Forester Randy Moore issued a Closure Order for all developed recreation sites across all National Forests in the Region. The USDA Forest Service’s highest priority is ensuring our employees and visitors remain safe as we support mission critical functions for the people and communities we serve. This Order is effective through April 30, 2020. This closure excludes trails, trailheads and staging areas that function as trailheads for dispersed recreation. While these specific areas remain open for use, we recommend complying with local and state guidance and not traveling for your recreation needs. If you do plan on visiting the San Bernardino National Forest please be aware that: • Trash removal is currently limited – please pack out all trash and waste • Avoid high-risk activities – law enforcement and search and rescue operations may be limited • If an area is crowded, please search for a less occupied location Closing any site for any reason is not one we take lightly, but protecting our visitors and employees remains our highest priority. We are working with our state and local partners to determine the best path forward to safely reopening closed sites. Thank you for your cooperation.

    Covid and Crime

OFFICERS RECOVER STOLEN PROPERTY FROM PAROLEE’S RESIDENCE Earlier this week, Riverside Police Officers assigned to our Field Operations Division responded to Klemm’s Cycle Supply, located in the 3600 block of Van Buren Boulevard, for a commercial burglary. Their initial investigation determined the suspect entered the building from the roof and stole eight off-road motorcycles, along with various merchandise, motorcycle parts, tools, and equipment. Officers were able to develop a lead in to the possible whereabouts of this stolen property which resulted in a parole search the following day. They also elicited assistance from the department’s Burglary Unit detectives. On Wednesday, April 14, 2020, at approximately 11:30 a.m., patrol officers conducted the parole search in the 9300 block of Magnolia Avenue and safely detained three people. Inside the apartment, officers found two of the stolen motorcycles, along with two more in the backyard area. They also found much of the stolen merchandise, equipment, and motorcycle parts taken from Klemm’s Cycle Supply at the residence. Also located were two additional off-road vehicles that had been reported stolen from different victims, and other stolen property from a third business. This additional property recovered was reported stolen from different victims and businesses in the general area of Magnolia Avenue and Van Buren Boulevard. Christopher Lewis, 32-years-old of Riverside, was arrested for being in possession of known stolen property and committing a felony while out on bail. A parole violation hold was also requested but denied. He was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center, but released several hours later on citation based on the temporary emergency bail schedule due to COVID-19. The other two people detained at the apartment were identified and later released. All the recovered stolen property and off-road motorcycles were returned to their rightful owners. Burglary Unit detectives will continue following up regarding this suspect possibly involved in other recent burglaries and thefts in this area. Anyone with additional information regarding this investigation and arrest should contact Detective Cory Camp at (951) 353-7955 or ccamp@riversideca.gov.
