COBDR: last years dream ride
cmbthumper replied to Zubb's topic in 4 Days & Longer Trip Write-Ups and Photos
Envious long distance traits that you passed down. Will keep reading. Anyone notice the Gas Prices???? -
^^ $8k and 75mi range? No yet but Maybe someday.

As stated above it would be 50/50 if CA will accept it. My dad registered his 01' DRZE in AZ a few years ago and tried to CA plate it. Our local DMV service (Alice's) laughed and said no it is a dirt bike. When i bought my 00' XR400 a few years ago (2019) the owner had a home here and in AZ. He originally had it plated here in CA since 02' but AZ was cheaper so he had it registered there. I made it a point that i would buy it if it was CA plated. A few hours later he came back from AAA with a CA plate. Since it was plated in CA before AZ there were no flags. All you can do is try but we all know a CA plated bike carries a premium.

Randsburg Ice Cream Ride - General Store is Closing
cmbthumper replied to Goofy Footer's topic in Open Discussion
Sooooooo Sad to see it go like many others. Before being a diabetic the Ice Cream floats, Nanner splits and Cherry soda was just too good to pass up. Throw in the Mining town atmoshpere was a bonus. Julian used to be like this but with all the hippies, dudes that think they are chicks, chicks that think they are dudes, colored hair and so on i just make sure all i need a quick pie at Mamma's and book it. -
Shame cause that KTM E-Ride is cheap to me for what you get. As stated once the cost come down, range goes up and it can be plated for Commifornia folks it will be a no brainer for a quick 100mi ride. Will it replace the "sound" of my 01' Honda VFR800, Aprilia Dorso with Akro's, 07' KTM 450 w/no Salt & Pepper shaker, 08' KTM 950SE w/ Yoshi exhaust etc etc etc. Yeah! Never but i do enjoy quite every once in a while.

She will definitely be cared for on my watch. The last few years the summer heat has really effected me so look forward to it cooling down to ride it as much as i can.

I have the full manual on CD and i cannot locate these on the wiring diagram by wire color or connector type. Anyone with prior experience remember where these may have gone/go. I found this by the relay's but nothing is disconnected in this area. Looks like a Connector AU 2-pole Brown w/White tracer. Only thing i found so far is it might be the Controller Output. Originally thought it was that bad fuel dongle but wrong connector type. This was wrapped in the main harness on the left side directly above the Kickstand. I know my kickstand is relocated and the sensor is not present so i thought this might be it but again wrong connector type and cannot locate these color wires on any diagram so far.

Maiden Fail this morning!! At least i tried. I gear up like a Knight which takes darn near an hour. Fired her up to go get some gas before hitting the trails. All was good until i left the gas station. Pulled the clutch in at a stop sign and flamed out. Restarted no problem but then the idle would not come down and stayed at im guessing 2-2500rpm. Adjusted the idle screw to bring the RPM down now that is was fully warmed up and it was either 2-2500rpm or on the verge of stalling. Going to go do some learning on these carbs and how a dual setup works and try again maybe next weekend.

Never rode my 07' KTM 450 EXC at night with the stock headlight. Too dangerous?? -
Could go on forever but researching shops to feel confident on who to send my motor to. Dave Hopkins - I've e-mailed and discussed options with him. He did my 07' 450 and happy but just trying to avoid shipping it. Caflash on KTMtalk. PM'd there weeks ago but no reply. Ron Bishop - Haven't spoken to but hear his shop is darn good Mike Tripes - Tuned my 07' 450 for the PO but i stink at researching so not sure if he has his own shop or not. TKS Performance - Just received this companies info from Wierdrider (Thanks) and seeing what they are all about My 07' KTM 525 EXC Backstory (134hr - 2231mi) In the Build section i did a small build thread. It was maintained well, was solid and had low hours and miles but the PO had no idea what soap was. Turned it into a Supermoto a few months ago and began chasing an oil leak. The first leak was from the Crankcase breather. Otiker clamp solved that one. Ran it for a few miles and was wet around the Drain plug area. Needed and oil change so replaced all the o-rings on the short and long screens, filter covers and put a brand new KTM OEM drain plug and crush washer. Still leaked and while cleaning up i saw this mess. Between the head gasket and what i believe is the case gasket leaking, i want the entire motor blown apart to get new gaskets/seals everywhere. Since it will be apart i would like the bottom end checked and any bearing upgrades or other mods done, head done with valves, piston etc. Your basic rebuild.

ACTION NEEDED- New Locked Gate on Thing Valley
cmbthumper replied to KTMrad's topic in Important Issues, Environmental-Land Use Issues, Important Meetings & Local Information
The Guberment doesn't work that fast. The Border Patrol probably put the request in years ago. On ADVRider, sputnik62a forced his way around the Thing Valley Forest Service gate. No matter your thoughts on trail closures "forcing" your away around a gate will give the you know who and much answer to keep putting them up. Oooorrrr you can just do the Biden thing and tear it down. -

USFS closed the 3 small trails by me and while it sucks i get it. Not in the mood to go to the desert either. I have washed my bike 3x, cleaned 4 air filters, chain, sprokets, new ECU, new Handlebars, risers, HB position, Lever angle change, grips, seat, tank bag(s). pegs, oil change, cleaned my gear, changed camera mounts on my helmet. edited ride video's etc etc. I am flippin bored for sure. Stay safe everyone
