  1. By the way the windy road down to Mecca, called Box Canyon, has been recently repaved. It is like a race track right now And since it runs the length of Painted Canyon it is beautiful.
  2. I will be doing the ride on my V-strom 1k, and I am lending my XR650L to my friend who will ride the GS Adventure route with me as well. And just like you we will be taking the Amboy desert road back to SD. Hope to see you all there!!!
  3. So who is going to be there? The time approaches rapidly!!

    Suppertrap IDS 2

I remember it sounded mean! I don’t think my neighbors would like that much at 5am .I am loving it so far, still have not tuned it all the way. I need to richen up my jetting and then I can open it up a little more. I might go for it this weekend, and wrap and paint the headers. I have all the jets I need and header wrap. Now I just need to decide what color paint for the headers. RED or BLACK.
  5. I am there, its that time of the year again BOYS, and GIRLS!!!The desert temps are coming down, and its time to head back to our favorite play grounds!!!Let me know where you want to meet Jose.
  6. I installed it on the Pig last night. What a difference in sound, I like it. I used 7 disks because I did not feel like rejeting this weekend. As a consequence it lost a bit of upper end power so I will be rejeting during the week. I also put steel braided line on the front. Great improvement in break feel

    TeraFlex Motosteel tire

Update! What a great tire! Once it is worn in that is. It inspires confidence on the road and on the dirt. It wears fast! I don’t think it will last me 1500 miles, but I will keep you all posted.
  8. Well 2500 miles and the Michelin Baja rear is gone. That’s 1k more than the stock TW. I contacted mandhtires.com and got a 140/80/18 Teraflex Motosteel tire. When I first saw it I was sure this tire was not going to fit. It is a huge freak of a tire.Took me 1hr to get the new tire on. This tire is very easy to seat. It only needed 37psi and the bead was set. Then for a ride, it felt like I was riding on ice. I would gun it and the tire would just spin, even going 25 or 30. It got better the more I rode on it, but it sure was an interesting ride. This morning I got it on the freeway and it was still a little slick. But by the time I got to work it was hooking up great, except on tight turns where it hits the new rubber. This will be great tires once they are fully broken in.By the way mandhtires.com gave me the best customer service ever. I ordered my tire Wend at 2pm and they had it at my house by the time I got home from work Thursday. I did not pay for overnight shipping, just told him the knobs on my Baja tires were hollow .I guess their website does not work, but if you guys are interested in this tire I can post the phone #
  9. You guys think a gs1100 will make it. I have a friend that would love to do the ride. He just got back from a trip to British Columbia. He went there and back in 8 days. He’s nuts.... But anyway a GS1100, you guys think it will make it?
  10. I did it. I went out and bought my self a new toy. It is an 800 Volusia, which a friend from work was selling. He bought it and rode it for 5k miles, then let it sit for a year and a half. I took it last week to my training in LA, what a different bike. It is the first big cruiser I have owned. I have had other big bikes, but they were all standards or sport bikes. Man this cruiser is comfortable, it’s got freeway bars with pegs, floor boards a hypercharger and some really loud pipes. The more work I do to the XR the less street friendly it becomes. I have no trouble riding it on the street, and it rules the dirt now. But the freeways are no fun anymore. With the sprocket combo I put on it, it will redline at about 80 and it’s comfortable at 65-70. When I ride on the freeway I want a little room to play in case I need the extra power, and the XR is geared to low. This will be my work commuter. Now I can really get the XR in full dirt mode keeping the plate for the awesome dual sport rides. I will post some pics soon.
  11. Sure thing Jose, I have another one of my buddies that is riding with me as well. The more the safer on a long trip like this one. I am exited, and it is still months away... I can’t wait!!!
  12. I am doing it for sure. My wife will be waiting for me in Vegas, I will prob stay there a couple of days after the ride.
  13. My name is Israel, I live in Lemon Grove and have been riding for 22 years. I currently ride an XR650L, and I am loving it. BBQ sounds good!
  14. Wow I get chills watching this little trailer http://www.madeinmexico2.com/master_MIM2_t..._trailer_T1.wmv
  15. Yea that is the hill, after we got done with them ( there is a second one) and not seeing riders coming behind us, we began to wonder. We were right on track on the GPS but we saw no sweepers. I guess the sweepers took and alternate route that was easy. With out those 2 hills the ride would not have been as fun. I cant wait to do it again.Jose don't let me forget I owe you a clutch lever.
