  1. I’m thankfully retiring from the military soon, but regrettably going have to move away from San Diego as well. I want to get out and enjoy as much riding as possible here while I can. I’d enjoy some company on Saturday for safety reasons and fun if anyone wants to join.

I don’t have a set route for Saturday, but I would ideally like to start by going over Otay and then do a border run and then go play in Anza Borrego for a little bit. I also want to get at least one more ride up to Idyllwild as well soon. If possible, I would really like to see some back country roads that I haven’t seen before in between those areas. I’ll be on my T7.

If anyone’s interested just let me know and we can hammer out the details. Thanks.

Great!  I will see you and any others at 6:30a in Ramona.  Should be a fun day!

    Chris

I’m also tempted to do Black Canyon prior because I want a long day! And I haven’t done Black Canyon yet. I might show up at Packards at 6:30. Please don’t wait up though if I don’t make it. If I miss it, I’ll see y’all at the Lost Valley turn out at 8.

  3. Once upon a time, I found some pictures here that someone posted from the Rangers that showed routes that were open or closed for riding. I tried searching here and tried Google, but I am having trouble finding the info that I'm looking for. Could someone help me out?

I want to ride from Otay TT to Corral Canyon to camp in two weeks, and want as much time off pavement as possible and to get as close as I can to the border, but I don't want to go where I'm not supposed to.

  4. Im riding up from Mira Mesa and meeting somebody from San Bernardino next Saturday to do some riding. Anybody here is welcome to join. So far the plan is to go up Nate Harrison grade, S7 to 76, and go up Black Mountain TT then split so I ride back to SD. I have two questions on this ride.

    1. Where is a good place to stage and meet near Escondido beneficial to this route?

    2. Does anybody have a better idea for a route?

Seems like it will be easy going. My rides tend to hit locked gates though, and I wanna get the most bang for my buck.

I am in Ramona, I can load my bike up and haul out anywhere.  I am new to dual sport but ride MX with some GP racing as well mostly Beg class.  I have no idea how to rate my skill on a dual sport but would like to ride some single track stuff..   For the last few years I love bee canyon after or during a rain in hope of hitting fresh snow (tricky riding in snow but I like the technical aspect) plus the forest area in damp conditions is a great retreat from the typical southern California sage brush hills

I plan to ride through bee canyon at some point sunday, can't make it friday. Going to Idyllwild from Anza and back on dirt.

Gonna take it relatively easy if I'm by myself. If you can also ride Sunday I'd like to hit some single track too.

I always pack extra inner tubes for those riders using mousse and may have a failure due to high-speed extended pavement riding.

    (that's an inside joke)

I always have my standard kit while riding- tubes, tools, snacks, sat trackers, etc.

Then, because we're not camping, I bring plenty of soft clothes to layer and a windbreaker/shell, some sandals to wear while walking around a bit. I'll check the weather and if heavy rain or other such storm is predicted, I'll pack my bike into the garage instead of riding that weekend.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Fortunately, I always carry an extra tube so no worries here (knock on wood).

If I'm to be had, I'm in. This sounds like a great opportunity.

  7. I know it's going to be kinda warm Saturday (mid 90s) but it's the perfect time for me to get on some dirt that morning. Haven't been off the pavement since May and itching to go. Wanting to see if anybody is interested in joining for a ride? On and off the forum it seems that S1 is a popular place to do some riding. A couple things though...

    1. I have not rode near S1 before or it's offshoots, so if any one else that is new here and wants to go and have me set the pace, it will be an easy one consisting of exploration rather than thrills to get me familiarized with the area.

    2. If someone more experienced around here has the time and patience, I would appreciate getting shown the ropes and follow.

So far, my plan has been to unload at some trail head on the 79 by 8 AM near lake cuyamaca and then just ride (the exploring part). Looking to leave around noon.

Even if you can't join, would like some route/starting point recommendations!
