  1. Updated: Don't let the "Romantic" reference scare you off...that was Toms fault! This is not Brokeback MTN night ride. Last year (August I believe) a group rode up/met up on Black MTN for Twofer Tues ride.... Hung out, watched the sunset and rode down in the dark. That was one of the best rides I've been on. Riding down the mountain in the dark was a magnificent experience. Who's in? Lets do this. Bring some Tacos, snacks, and a beverage of choice if you like. We'll meet at Main Street Coffee (formerly Packards) in Ramona tentatively @ 5:30pm for now...stay tuned for actual time. Sunset is 7:39 pm. Ride difficulty level: I would say intermediate. You should be comfortable navigating a mountain trail with loose rocks/ruts in some areas....and doing so in the dark. Proper lighting is a must. Few pics from last year...

    Noob Clothing advice

Do I remember that guy..... holy crap, I idolized him. Bought all his products too. This be me at San Diego "Jack Murphy" stadium in 1983...amateur supecross.
  4. Such a great area to ride.... I love it when it's green like that. Wish I could have gone. Looks like fun was had!

Otay Truck Trail / Pink Gate Ride - Noob Friendly

Wish I could go. Love that area. I'm out of commission for a while.

    ocotillo wander

Beautiful pics....man...this really makes me want a smaller 2nd bike.
  8. I was going the opposite direction (up Lemon) and was passing when I realized it was you. You were looking down, I remember that. Bummer on the flat. ...but it sure is nice having tubeless tires.
  9. I had a Zubb sighting this morning. Spotted a 1250 wearing knobbies at the bottom of Lemon.... then I looked at the gear and knew it was you.
  10. This is still on my bucket list. Some of the vids/images I've seen, there are some gnarly spots. (for us middle-weight/big-bike folk)
  11. Nice! Top of Black Mountain is an amazing trek and view.
  12. Lot easier trails than that one around SD to stay riding the dirt. I think the roads are far more dangerous these days. Very cool that he still rides at that age.

    Fish Creek

Darren....you've really gotten good at the artistic photos. You've got a great eye.
  14. any air time is still air time! Looks like you guys had a blast. Wish I could have gone. I did escape for a short ride for about 1.5 hours myself, it's all I could get away with.
  15. Damn....hate to hear when someone gets injured. What a great group of folks coming together to get the bike. Silt.... about as fun as mud is.
  16. Can't make it. Swamped with work and other stuff with Tgiving coming up. If I do escape it'll be for a short knees in the breeze for my sanity. You guys have fun!
  17. SanRider Mike and I took off for an early Sunday morning ride and headed out to Pine Valley before the heat really kicked in and I only had a few hours to kill. I think he tricked me into thinking we were just going to do the loop...ha ha. Mike was on his Katoom 690. We took the Kernan Cycle Trail down toward Corral Canyon...Mike kept saying at little stops along the way "lets just go a little further...we can always turn around". ha ha! Well...made it to the bottom unscathed! This is definitely the roughest and most technical trail I've been on with my bike by far....not a full size "Big Bike" but 450 pounds worth of Triumph 900. She did amazingly well considering this being my virgin run of single track on a bike of this size. Though, some places felt more like a "controlled crash" and I nearly dumped a couple of times....this trail definitely worked me....tested me. After that, we leisurely rode up to the lookout tower before heading back toward home. Another awesome adventure. Had a total blast. Thanks Mike! As always... my videos are raw and long. I usually like to share the whole trail/ experience for those willing to spend the time to watch if they haven't been on a particular trail.
  18. Nice Vid capturing all those trails! Jasper in your vid looked more rutted than it was a couple days ago for us.
  19. Went for a 7 hour ride on Saturday with Mike (SanRider). No pics though....well other than lunch....Mike can share that. We had planned to hit Palomar Divide....but the South gate was locked. So we hit Puerta De La Cruz/Lost Valley and then down to Culp/Jasper and Grapevine. We backtracked on Grapevine where the trail runs along the power poles and did the "wash" section as well. The sand on Grapevine was tamer compared to the last time I've been out there....thanks to recent rain. Putting those W38 Level 2 skills to work. Temps on Banner grade hit 46 degrees late afternoon...chilly! Great ride...had a blast. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/32.8738537,-116.9236349/32.7440026,-116.9165413/@33.0715563,-116.8556886,92217m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m54!4m53!1m50!3m4!1m2!1d-116.8846952!2d32.9116871!3s0x80dbe17b8f133d4b:0xb6b88056de52ed95!3m4!1m2!1d-116.8156995!2d33.0089482!3s0x80dbe79ecb8fd2e5:0x70046f787eeefedf!3m4!1m2!1d-116.7038715!2d33.3803681!3s0x80dbbc9e5d8669b9:0xa2500732783c8724!3m4!1m2!1d-116.6794395!2d33.3664732!3s0x80dbbba1dfb0fb5f:0x3cf03e38fdb3f25b!3m4!1m2!1d-116.4986811!2d33.1856428!3s0x80dbcc103eb309ab:0xf0728633f936dca9!3m4!1m2!1d-116.4428879!2d33.1437844!3s0x80dbcd6bf5479ad3:0xba8cd560dc04074b!3m4!1m2!1d-116.5814221!2d32.9780425!3s0x80dbd70b83a8ff97:0x9b2c04a321d33b5c!3m4!1m2!1d-116.758711!2d32.7195708!3s0x80d9687ba19f707d:0x58116c3c5d89f0d5!3m4!1m2!1d-116.8125387!2d32.7333582!3s0x80d95d69d4036e7d:0x17376411ef5fd992!3m4!1m2!1d-116.8351886!2d32.731563!3s0x80d95d18e64b348b:0x4df71c7bf794fa50!1m0!3e1

    Sat 11/12 ride

Lets make that happen. I'd love to see that Duc in person.
  21. Yes.... W38 Moto is a great class for those on bigger bikes! Did level 2 earlier this year and despite having grown up riding/racing MX, i learned some valuable lessons. Sign me up for Cedar Creek run! That is one of my favorite trails.
  22. Great pics folks! Hated wussing out. Honestly, I've never been the camping type but I did want to give it a try. I'm the guy who stayed in a Hotel in Borrego for the Westmoto38 training....lol. Anyway, I waited too long for prep and stressed out at the last minute. Thanks to everyone who offered up, tents, bags, parkas and everything else. Mike even offered me his extra bike if I hadn't gotten mine together. You can tell this is a great group of folks, many of whom I've had the pleasure of riding with previously.
  23. While you guys are gettin wet and wind blown....Dobson brought me my "sausage" and beverage... Hope you all are havin fun!
