  1. Mine was funny. :smile_anim:

    See? I learned something!!

HUGE thanks to Mikey777 for getting me all set up today. I don't really want to understand how it works, I just wanna be able to annoy PMB and Senor Slut. Mission accomplished-can't wait for the next ride so I can test it out!

  2. They (the FCC) don't care about 2 guys/girls on dirt bikes talking simplex in the middle of the desert on 2 meter band plan approved freqs.

Hop on the repeater and start cussing the HAM police (other fanatical Ham operators) will be on you... and it is a federal crime... but good luck to them being able to tracking you down...

I have a license and I think it was a waste of time... and for a reason (legality) that is never going to be a problem...

But you are right. You have to be licensed.

    Thank you for the PSA....

You are right low watt simplex in the dez is a non issue. Just passing along what came down from the national guys who run our radio program. Looks like you are pretty knowledgeable, as stated a few posts above I bet SDAR could drum up enough interest for an afternoon beer and HAM crash course. What do you think?

    What's a repeater? :bigeyed:

  3. As some know,I also have a sport bike. (I'm a Noob in so many, many, many, many ways.)

Back in the summer I started hosting a Saturday morning breakfast ride for noobs which turned into a slow, easy breakfast ride for everyone. Next Saturday will be my last one for 2015 and I'd like to invite all of you to join us.

We meet at the Lake Jennings exit 7/11( 14110 Old Hwy 80) at 7:30am. Rider meeting at 7:50, stands up at 8. We take Old 80/Japatul to Major's Diner in Pine Valley.

Right near the cul-de-sac. :smile_anim: It's an easy-paced, fun ride. After breakfast, some head back to San Diego, some will head toward 94/Jamul, and I plan to take Sunrise Hwy toward Julian.

There's always a variety of bikes, riders and skill levels-the BMW super riders(what I call them, hehe) even join us regularly,so that's saying something! :bigeyed:

Feel free to call/text me with any questions (310)987-1038

Hope to see some of you.

  4. I have a google drive folder online with all my radio image files on it. I'll send a link to anyone who wants to see if it's useful for them.

May I please play the dumb blonde card and get you to set mine up for me? I don't understand any of this. I just wanna be able to talk to you guys and my Glamis group.(Do I need to get their station number or name?) I have no idea where to start. I bought the kit but I don't think it included the cable you're saying is needed?

  5. Sure is nice having a truck. And help loading/unloading!! And a Thumper pal to keep you company. :smile_anim:

I returned with only minor emotional scratches. Nothing that a set of brand new tires won't fix, tho! Thanks again, Carguy, but thank you even more for bringing your wife!! It was awesome to not be the only girl-she was awesome.

I enjoyed that area very much with the exception of option #2-which I am not determined to go back and conquer, dammit!!

Option #1 will not be attempted with drum brakes.

    It's just a hill:

I didn't get the launch, but you can certainly see where the landing went sour(sorry WmDaniel):

And THEN there was option #3.

Links to the videos below. Now, you might see these and at first believe the water is the hazard here. Alas, no, it's the photographers; creating a new biker game called Splish, Splash, I Soak Your Ass. Fun game!

I only went through water once but somehow till had a mess of mud clumps everywhere-I was a proud mama!!

Thanks again, everyone for a great time! Let's do another Noob ride soon!

  6. My number is (310)987-1038. I lead an easy Saturday morning ride every week from Lake Jennings 7/11 to Major's for breakfast. From there sometimes we go to Campo and back or up Sunrise and back around Lake Cuyamaca. Thumper Bob comes most weekends.I just did my first track day. Would love more ride time-definitely have her gimme a call or text.

My Girlfriend Colleen lives in Lakeside and also rides (she has a street bike but she wants to get a tw200!), can I invite her to your ride?

We'd love to have her along. Here are the details:

We meet Saturday mornings at 7-11(gas,air available) Lake Jennings exit off 8 East at 7:30am. KSU 8am. Taking Old 80/Japatul Valley Rd to Major's Diner(28870 Old Highway 80, Pine Valley, CA 91962) for breakfast. Then continue east on old 80 to Buckman Springs Rd, hanging a right and continuing from there to Cameron Corners. Rest a bit, then head back the way we came.

Thanks Miriam, Ill pass this info along to her!

Would love to see you both this Saturday.I'm planning to be in Glamis next weekend so I won't be riding Halloween.

  7. What "eddie" and everyone else said ... please be careful and I suspect you will be but keep in mind ...

I'm a law-abiding, ATGATT girl. I do my searching for that "edge"on the track. The story you referenced is tragic but irrelevant in my case. If I'm involved in a street crash, I can PROMISE you that the words:"traveling at an unsafe speed for the descending roadway." will NOT be in the 1st paragraph of MY write up!

  9. My wife (not my neighbor) got a sweet deal on a FZ6 before I went on extended vacation. She's been going on a few rides by herself and with friends, maybe need to get you two ladies together if you're still out there getting some miles on that Yamaha.

  10. I haven't lived there in awhile, but confident you won't have the emission issues. As long as it'll pass inspection(lights, horn, etc) you should have no problem. Quads can be plated there too, I'm pretty certain. I know you don't have to register off road only stuff at all. And I know you can register a golf cart. They aren't as likely to bust you for crossing/using a street to get from point A to B on your dirt bike there as long as you behave as they are here.

  11. I'm from Greensboro, which is an hour and a half NW of the area you're considering. Apex is a quaint area. I think you'll like it, especially if you're gonna raise a family. It's a slower pace. You'll have to deal with mosquitos, and people wanting to "save" you. But there's some awesome back country riding. Helmet law, cheaper insurance. Lots of weekend exploration possible: coast, mountain, lakes. I think you'll find drivers more courteous, but you will need patience when stuck behind the occasional tractor. Anything I can share with ya, just ask.
