Well, now that News 8 is reporting that Fang Jin's remains have been found and her family notified, hats off to San Diego Search and Rescue for locating her and our own Oracle/LB for participating in the search on Saturday October 28, 2023 that located her.

We should be seeing this in the US in 3Q 2020. Looks like a good dirt machine.

Mike, you did not see the parachutes because of the altitude they were at the time of the collision. Although objects should fall at the same rate regardless of weight, the impact of the wind on a parachute will keep it elevated for a much longer period of time. It also appeared that the jet was still under power as it came down which may bring it down faster. You can guarentee the pilot watched the aircraft all the way in hoping/praying it did not land in a populated area.

You forgot to mention how light that helmet is also. I tried one on at GP motorcycles and was almost could not put it down.

I picked this junk up from Cycle Gear a few years back. Because it is made of aluminum it is really light, but also the lifting arm and mounting points are very weak and susceptible to bending. My failure occurred because I was not standing directly in front of the lifting arm when lifting a 350. My body was turned just a bit, which can happen when you are trying to hold the bike at two points and manipulate your foot around foot pegs, etc. That was just enough to input some sideways force which bent the lifting bar. I was able to bend it back in the vice but noticed the mounting points are also bent a little. Just bought a new steel one. Much sturdier. User error? Maybe...probably...could be, but I prefer something sturdier.

I have not tried it, but it looks like it relies on a single point attachment on the back of the phone. I can see that getting compromised under heavy vibration. A clamping device is likely more secure.

For the AZ Peace Trail ride, I used my Montana and also my Samsung S9 in a RAM mount using their rubberband thing. Will probably use a stand alone phone in the future due to possible risk of vibration damage to the camera. For my GPS app, I used BackCountry Navigator Pro. The GPS tracks for the AZ Peace trail route are very poorly organized and going through them on the Montana was difficult to say the least. It was much easier to sort through the tracks on the phone. I could easily pull up, remove, or delete the tracks I wanted from the phone based App. The only dilemma for me was the RAM mount interfering with the Samsung buttons and constantly either turning my phone off or bringing up an App that I did not want. Going to give the Mob Armor mount a try. I used the Montana in the "Auto" driving mode and then used BackCountry Navigator Pro more for pulling up the map and searching around when we were looking for alternate roads, routes, etc. My App provided a lot more detail than the Montana based on the maps I pre-downloaded for the ride.

I have road set of wheels and a dirt set of wheels for the big bike. The road set is wrapped front and rear with Pirelli MT 90 A/T's which is a 80/20 tire, maybe 60/40 if you push your luck. The tread pattern is very similar to the Shinko 705. You can carve up the twisties like a hooligan street bike with these. They are usually in stock at Cycle Gear in Claremont.

After watching the video, this was my take which I shared with Mike on FB. I am editing it a little for better reading. A couple seconds before the crash, Mike stood up on his new to him bike. Standing up on the bike loads the front suspension and puts more downward force on the front wheel/tire. It looks like he was also going slightly downhill which increases gravitational forces. When standing, for riders without a ton of experience and especially on a new bike, it is easy to have your right foot placed incorrectly on the foot peg so you are not able to hit the rear brake lever with your foot when needed. As Mike came around the corner on the outside, he saw the rocks, target fixated momentarily, and decided to brake/go around the obstacle. He may have realized he could not hit the rear brake/or missed the rear brake and then grabbed too much front brake while turning to the right to compensate for missing the rear brake. That immediately washed out the loaded front tire which caused the bike to instantly go down and highside the rider. Over the years, I have had to practice my right foot placement and rear braking while standing. Getting on the front brake on hard surfaces, with loose top material, while going downhill and standing can be hazardous.

Ouch....I stay off the front brake as much as possible in the dirt. It is rarely my friend.

I am going to steal your KTM mat and chair. If they turn up missing, LB took them.

General consensus for tire life is 3-5 years after the manf. date code. After that, you are pushing your luck.

Was checking the Wolfman site and saw this. The beta plus rear bag is on sale for $124.99 which is probably a close out. I had bag envy when CID used this on the Utah BDR. With this bag, you have to be careful where you position it on the bike due to its "legs" that hang down on either side. As long as you have a heat shield on your exhaust and strap it down forward of the exhaust tip, you should be good. I was actually thinking about making an extra heat shield from some flashing and duct taping it onto the bottom of the leg just to be on the safe side.
