  1. I am going to be camping at Truckhaven Hills the week before Thanksgiving with my jeep. If anyone is interested in meeting up for a ride I can throw a bike in the trailer as well. We will be camping on the mesa by the cell tower on S22.
  2. Death Valley will be a little.......ER........different this winter. The stair steps are back in Goler Wash, Steele Pass is rather interesting right now and two of the mud holes on Hunter Mtn are more than foot peg deep. This is the beauty of DV, ever changing I hope you guys come back up this season, you're a great group.
  3. CableJockey and I will be doing some canyons to check out a few mines on the little bikes. And on friday doing an easy day out to Titus and Scottys Castle, this will be big bike friendly. Only one catch, you have to promise to have fun.
  4. As you wish, tour guide it is sir. I think I know some of the stuff you're referencing on the East side. WarEagle, Noonday and Columbia mines are a few of the attractions out that way. Shoshone RV Park is also an option for a base camp for that trip. What day do you want to do Titus and Scottys, and are you wanting to do the tour? I'll have to beg mercy if you bring your KLR as I'll be on my 250. I can do a quick counter sprocket change to try to keep from giving the mice a heart attack. ( no horses here) That will be a good day! When you come in Wednesday nite, there will be a spot waiting for you at Panamint. I will already be there in spot # 43 in a blue GMC dually. I will try to get you #45, easy access.
  5. CableJockey, any ideas on what mines you want to go to? I've made sure the flashlight on my bike works this time. With our lack of snow up here, Cerro Gordo may even be open now.
  6. You should be fine. Saline valley up Lippincott to Tea kettle back Hunter Mtn is only 150miles. Last year GoofyFooter and a friend, both on DRZ's rode over Goler to Striped Butte and out to Furnace Creek for his Birthday, 150miles. If you have room for a bundle of firewood, the group site that CableJockey reserved has a fire pit.
  7. I have had few problems with 150. Like what Wintyfresh said, the way the valley is you always end up on or near Hwy 190 with gas at PVR, SPW, or FC. If you'r out by Cloride Cliffs and Rhyolite, Beaty is also an option for gas and lunch.(fun road for big bikes)
  8. They all look like good routes. Your Sun and Mon rides will have alot of slab to them. For your Mon ride you should top off fuel at stove pipe wells, Scotties no longer has gas.
  9. Great shots Goofy Footer. I think your pictures capture the feel of the valley very well.
  10. Good deal. You guys are fun to ride with. If mines are on your mind, perhaps Defense Mine, Jail canyon up to the Corona mine or out to Ballarat and up Pleasant canyon. There's a lot of places to go, I have GOOD fuel range so anything you want to do is cool with me.
  11. Hey Jockey! I'll have some firewood if you would like some company before the rest of your group shows up.
  12. Hey guys. Good to see you're coming back to Death Valley. I enjoyed meeting and riding with your group last year. I'll be out there Mar 3-10 to do some route checks and go to a few mines that I haven't been to in some time. If this sounds interesting to anyone they're welcome to come along.
  13. No plans for Fri., but I can be easily tricked. Also, as of this afternoon Titus canyon is still closed.
  14. Damn dude, you come better prepared than some of the people on my 4X4 trips! You guys rock.
  15. I'm glad you saw this John. If you're on Facebook, you can go to Death Valley Road Conditions for conditions WITH comments from folks who have been there recently. Sometimes the "official" reports of impassable really just mean "interesting". I agree with you, the weather report sounds wonderful. One of the things we all can look forward to is reduced dust. And to chrisw...personally, I'd make sure I had a tire repair kit before a change of clothes. I'm bringing a couple of gatorades for back at camp. Protein/energy bars travel well for a snack on the trail. Don't know what kind bike you're riding, I ride a little bike, so I wear a hydration backpack and have a set of Wolfman daytrippers with an enduro dufflebag. In this set up, I have all of my tools, 2 spare tubes and an enduro jacket. If you can, you might want to bring any extra stuff that you think you might need and see how everyone else sets up - then you can leave your extra gear in the room. Everyone sets their bike up differently and you can see what might work for you. Also, if you're hauling or towing up, don't forget a camp chair, bench racing at the end of the day is the best. Greg
