If it really WAS the end of the world as we know it, what would be your ONE bike, and why?
vanjoosten replied to Ptkatoomer's topic in Open Discussion
I'm thinking the cockroach of the motorcycle world for the end of it... A nicely modded KLR should do just about anything you ask (slowly), and they do have a kick start kit! -
Thanks Mikey! It's actually never been dropped since I've owned it. I'm getting too old to hit the ground...The only scratches are on the stickers from the Giant Loop bags.

Just booked at Cal's and MSR. MSR only has 5 people booked from our group under Mike's name, so I put my name down as well. -

Looks cool(ish) and wet this week! Thinking about Wed or Thurs depending on conditions. Thoughts? -
Midweek temps down in the desert
vanjoosten replied to vanjoosten's topic in Informal Local Rides & Who's Going Riding!
Thought the rains were coming, but no luck... Temps are still down though, so I'm on the fence. Feel free to plan away! -
Douglas C. Sohn ESQ (619) 237-7646 dsohn@sohnlaw.com I've used him several times, and referred him successfully to another member.

Kenda Parker DT is cheap, hooks up, and DOT. However, DOT is kinda a non-issue as nobody really looks...

I regret not buying your rental property for $700K because just 7 years later it's worth $1.4M...

What's old is new... I'm on Strega's old 07 WR450 for the time being. Leaning towards a Euro 500 something, but not quite sure what yet.

I just sold my 690 so take this with a grain of salt... If you are looking for a dirt bike to put in long miles, and still be able to navigate real off road conditions, there is no better bike. However, if you are looking to do single track it's kind of a pig, and if you want to ride freeway for hours it is going to beat you up. It's a jack of all trades type of machine, so you just need to know what your mission is. If you're looking for more travel you can go with an 09-11 KTM or the new Husky 701 which both have an extra inch. Also, a good bash plate should be first on your list.

Long days = Two'fer Tuesdays (two wheels, two trails, two brews, one sunset)
vanjoosten replied to Crawdaddy's topic in Informal Local Rides & Who's Going Riding!
Looks like a little rain and warm temps up in Ramona today. Anyone up for a two-fer? -
I'd start with the Cyclops LED bulb like some others have suggested. I have had them on three bikes, and you really can't beat the bang for the buck. The BD XL is on another level, but I've been really underwhelmed by the TT X2. If you decide to go BD, I'd probably buy your stock light for my 07 WR.

Or have the ability to share a bike between riders of different size/weights without having to compensate spring rates one way or the other.

Depending on the year of your 525, JD has a little cap/hat that limits the travel on the accelerator diaphragm. It is designed to eliminate that bog when you crack the throttle. Give em a call and ask if you have the one that uses it. They are extremely helpful with diagnosing carb issues if you have their kit installed.

Can you send me the tracks? -
Wisdom from the peanut gallery: Time tested reliability = She's got a great personality... I've seen the way you ride, so faster is gonna be better. Just plate the red sticker out of state and call it a day.
