  1. Okay, now for more: Heart Attack attacks! Fairchild a shell of it's former self. By chance did anyone see the little rock message left there? View from top of HAH. Paul B there's your old GPS! View down.... The Squeeze If anyone found a TOOL BAG on the trail (SATURDAY) it might be JOHNNYBAGS's bag! Msg me or tell Randy. Thanks!
  2. What a fun ride, a must-do on my list. Here's some pics, I'll try two to see if the system I used works (more to come probably):
  3. John A. and myself (Landcrab) can do sweep either Saturday or Sunday. Hope it rains before the ride. Last year was perrrrfect. Never done sweep before but we can handle ourselves in a 2 person team I'm sure.

    2013 Big Bear

Congrats on the fun times in BB! Had to take a rain check on my 3rd attempt for a plaque due to sister's wedding up north. Makes me a little sad seeing the picture of one then glancing over at the wall in the office which should have plaque #3 next to 2011 & 2012. Next year it's ON! Don't forget the Moonlight Madness run on Aug 3rd. A nice little kick in the pants...
  5. Showing a motorcycle film is a fantastic idea! That would help influence most. Maybe I'm a bit baised, but having one or two local professional massage therapists available for 10-30 minute chair massages will only help bring more people. Trust me, it makes a big difference to get a little bodywork after a tough day of riding...even if it's just a few minutes on an aching shoulder or sore hands.
  6. What a great combo! This is marked on my "hope to" calendar....
  7. I live in Big Bear and have rode all the hard ways to earn a nice plaque last two years. Hard ways are just that...220 miles two years ago, 180 last year, I recall about 10-12 hours average of seat time. They do NOT open horse trails for this event, that was years ago. The challenge is the typical tough stuff of the area, John Bull, Gold Mountain (both ways), Silverwood or desert loop (hot temps), White Mtn, Redondo/Malcomb, and of course the length of the ride. Only GPS tracks are issued this year, no rollies. I've been prerunning a few areas and the terrain is in great shape but only getting drier and dustier! Unfortunately, my sister decided that weekend was prime for her wedding date!! So I'll be running the route on a weekday in July or something, that doesn't really make up for missing this amazing event! I hear they may even have a massage therapist booth at the finish line.... Having never swung my leg over a big/adv bike, I can't really say much other than "use your best judgement" in regards to signing up for the hard ways on a 650 or up. (although an xr650 could do it, KLR...maybe if you're a moto masochist. NOTE: There is an adventure bike loop this year
  8. Critters rule! Once found a baby horny toad, about the size of a quarter, while out hiking. Doubt the sighting would have happened on a bike. They are so cool!

    Night Ride Friday May 3

Ahh, just got the lights working too! Been itching for a night ride. Come up to the Big Bear Moonlight Madness for some fun!
  10. I love the next day ride reports here on the SDAR site! And it's nice to be involved in successful meet-ups! Turns out I knew DSFOX, but then again who doesn't? Opps, hope that didn't sound uhh weird. She even knew one of the adv riders we ran into down at Bear Creek! I was happy to test out the wiring/electronics prowess with a mid-range ride, shoot, even completed a "surprise" crash test! Damn ruts in the road, those things creep up and slap ya hard. Just a temporarily bend tusk bark buster but the lighting/accessories still worked Living up in Big Bear for almost 12 years and some SD folks come up and show me two new spots! Guess I'm naturally drawn to the nasty stuff and singletracks, it was so nice to see the amazing scenery down in Seven Oaks. The 1n64 road had white sage everywhere, natural air freshener. And yeah, trust Deb on the burger suggestion, the restaurant down at Seven Oaks, same owners as "The Oaks" in Angelus Oaks, was amazing! I left the crew around 12:30, headed back up to Big Bear via 2n93 to 2n27. Found and explored this one side road (thanks Google Maps) that is blocked for some dumb reason. Just a spur to deadend. Then explored some singletracks around the area, returned home around 2:30. Glad you'se guys had fun on Redondo! Although I wouldn't describe my last encounter there "fun" No rear brake....yowza!
  11. Fun area to ride, all gates are open to my knowledge.... Big Bear local here, will keep the dates open, what kind of riding ya up for? Big bike or other? I've rode the San Bernardino mtns for years on a xr400 with no special jetting/carb with no issues. Clean the airfilter really good and you're golden! (I accidently forgot to clean a K&N last yr on the Big Bear hardway run...that sucked and I don't want to talk about it, since replaced w/ UNI). Elevations (rideable) top out around 9100 Onyx Peak. You can get up to just a bit under 10,000 ft, but gasp that is a hiking trail, badass bikers not allowed
  12. Great story/pictures! You all came up on the perfect weekend weather/crowd wise. Was that Holcomb Creek? Also, I would love to find that face rock...any clues? Hit me up next time, we'll do some fun loops. I think I briefly met the long-haired guy at Desert Dash 13, back when I was sporting 12 inches of ponytail (hacked off April 1st & sent to "locks of Love"). Hwy 38 is just being re-opened today. It was a Valero truck, their truckers apparently like to drink on the job.
  13. All over that stuff! Looks fun and skinny or vica versa. ST = smiles

    Secret Garden

Keep those secret locations just that! I thought you took my "Mr. XR" for a spin. Seems the white/black color scheme isn't as original as I thought Your secret is safe with me...east of Pacific Ocean...got it, I'll start searching
