    Adios California

Well, it's a done deal. I'm homeless in California. I haven't been adding much content lately, but I have been apart of this motley crew for a while, and I've enjoyed ever minute of it. I've met many like minded people and made many more friends along the way than I could imagine. This is a great organization of people that will endure because our quest is pure and we will not be denied despite the pressure to keep us from what we know is our right. Thanks to all that have been willing to share their knowledge with me, and make me the better motorcyclist that I am today. This forum and the friends I've met through it has changed my life forever, and is all the better for it. Farewell, and happy trails to all. Idaho is our destination. I'll be sure to post some adventure's from afar, and welcome any traveler's to come and visit our new dig's. Adios!

Sorry Brian, I knew that one would pinch a little. I'll be thinking the same thing around February when your all out riding in Anza Borrego and I'm up to my doodads in snow.

Thanks everyone, you guys are awesome and will be sorely missed. We are just getting settled in and I was able to get out and see what's ahead of us. It will be an amazing Journey going forward, but I feel I'm up to the task. Take care all.

    New Rider Alpine

Welcome to the Herd James. The group should get a Newb ride going here pretty soon to get to know our new additions. I got a little work to do before I get back out there, hopefully it won't take too long to get repairs made on my rides.
  10. A bit of word through the grapevine, but that picture is telling. The word I got was Marty didn't have belts on, and his wife only had a lap belt. It took over an hour for any assistance to get to them. Very sad, but take lessons from this week. Safeguarding yourself while involved with activity in remote areas should be your first priority. ATGATT is no joke. Please take heed for yourself and those who care about you. Godspeed and God Bless to those we lost this week, and their families....

Suspension Sag With / Without Gear

I haven't weighed my load from the Husky pick, but with gear, extra water (7.48 lb per gal), whisky, it's around 40#'s or more. If you pack like Kiwi Wayne (maybe half that [his evening steak probably weighs 5lbs.]) he can get more in a bag with less weight than anyone I've ever seen, you might skip an adjustment if you plan to ride after unloaded.

    Rider missing in OTAY area

Cool. I just found the one of the guys I was riding with yesterday on FB and PM'ed him a link to our search page too.

    Rider missing in OTAY area

Does anyone know Katie Camou personally? We're getting a lot of search area coverage compiled and published that the family doesn't necessarily know about. Just wondering if we shouldn't relay a link to them about what our group has done so far. It might help with the overall effort of know what areas have been covered, or still need to be covered. Do we need a new thread with just the search data added?

    Rider missing in OTAY area

I covered a lot of ground around Deerhorn Valley Rd., headed out off Manzanita Way past substation and followed power line road out a few miles to this point with 2 other riders. https://www.google.com/maps/place/32%C2%B039'14.1%22N+116%C2%B041'11.5%22W/@32.6539271,-116.688042,650m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x0:0x0!7e2!8m2!3d32.6539237!4d-116.6865302 Looking on Google Maps, we still didn't hit every road out there, but we did talk to power line workers and they said they would convey news to chopper pilot who was setting poles in the area. That chopper was flying low and covering quite a bit of ground too. So hopefully this area had some decent coverage.

    Rider missing in OTAY area

I talked with any hikers or mountain bikers I came across as I rode in from Lyons Valley road to let people know about the issue. Covered about 80 mi. total looking off cliffs, in gulley's around Honey Springs Rd., Deer Horn Valley, Mother Grundy. Lot's of stops and looking back at hidden reveals, out 7 mi. of power line roads and many driveways in the area. Met 2 other experience riders about noon, and teamed up with them. Unfortunately I chucked my chain around 2pm near Campbell Ranch Rd off 94 and had to get picked up. The guys went on up 94 to Barrett Jct. and beyond. They knew the family and had good info on the matter. They felt it was more helpful to check areas others were not so likely to be, which I think will be helpful in the larger scope. It sounded like it was a cluster f*ck around Otay. I hope Bobby gets found soon, this is terrible.

Suspension Sag With / Without Gear

Hey Robert. That's the old '09' TE310 I bought from Blake around 2015. Just love the bike, and since the e-start with kicker backup has fallen out of favor with manufactures, I've hesitated upgrading to something newer. It's always served me well enough, just going to be a keeper.

    Rider missing in OTAY area

I'm going to head out that way in 20 min. My wife is updated and will be able to bring fuel out that way if I give her a call. Spot is on. Handle: rrg3 https://maps.findmespot.com/Track#panel-live http://www.whereamiriding.com/my-profile/userprofile/wildwood

    Rider missing in OTAY area

Thanks, that is a big help. I was searching Google Maps and using street view last night. I thought I could make out that mountain off 94, and your pin confirms this. I can ride in from my location down Japatul Rd. and be to this area in 30 min. Does anyone want to meet at the 94/Honey Springs Rd.JCT. to buddy up for a look around from the east end. My opinion would be to get some 2 rider teams together today and go looking from where his known location was. Fuel might be an issue, so having someone stage with extra fuel would be helpful too. I might be able to assist with that as well. I'll keep monitoring here to see if something begins to organize. Getting bike ready to head out if needed.

Any chance you can show a pin in Google maps where you think the picture was taken? I'm in the Descanso area but I can't quite figure out the perspective.

    Rider missing in OTAY area

If he isn't found by tomorrow morning and there's a coordinated effort starting , I'm available to join in. I have a Spot system, and I know others in the forum use them too. Can these be linked to coordinate a search zone so that search trails can be identified and recorded to direct coverage?

Suspension Sag With / Without Gear

BP619 gave me a tip, to add 2 turns in on my rear spring when loading up for a bike camping run. Worked out great and easy application without all the technical jargon. Suspension 101 sag setting originally, then added 2 turns in. Take out when done with camping gear.
  23. It a travesty that so much public land is being shut off in our region. Mason Valley TT and all the railing that has been put up through Bear Valley, Pine Creek, Dear Park Rd. being closed for months etc... is a prime example of the Forestry's anti-public mentality. It's 'We don't want to deal with you, so you can't go there.' Personally I'm done with it. My house is going up for sale in April, and we're Idaho bound.............

Just a heads up on Crawdaddy

What a bummer. I bet Chris is less concerned with the broken bones than how much seat time he's going to miss healing up. Best Wishes and Godspeed buddy.
