    Regulator/Rectifiers

i was talking with a couple car guys, and they both said if the plugs are getting a bit more electricity, they make a better spark? i know all about the stator, don't you remember my panicked call to you during our nocal trip last year? thanks for the replies. best regards, johnnyg

    Regulator/Rectifiers

I replaced my stock, shunt-type r/r with an aftermarket, series type. I test rode this afternoon and I’d swear it felt like it had a little more ooomph (I think I spelled that right). My question is, am I imagining things, or can improved electrics make the bike a bit livelier? Best regards, johnnyg
  3. following along on this one tom... enjoy your ride! best regards, johnnyg
  4. Details are here: http://www.cbs8.com/story/38496237/motorcyclist-dead-after-hitting-deputys-patrol-car-in-encinitas My wife was in the vicinity when it happened... a witness told her the bike was going about 60mph, and doing a wheelie. Such a waste... Ride safe y’all. Best regards, johnnyg
  5. "self-trained"? best regards, johnnyg

    The Wave

i'll wave to most everyone, but i always take it back when it's a scooter... and waving in corners is fun! this is not me, but someone clearly having a great time. best regards, johnnyg
  10. looks like great ride... who won the pool game?
  11. i chatted with the guy on the gsa with the red crash bars and frame (i think his name was mark?) at the gas stop in santa ysabel... i parked my girlie tiger away from the group, i didn't want to cramp anyone's style! looks like a great time! best regards, johnnyg

    ktm flywheel tool help needed

hi all, i'm hoping someone here has an lc4 flywheel puller in their toolbox i could use to replace the starter sprag on my '03 640. your choice of beverage (within reason, of course... i'm not prepared to buy someone a bottle of '61 chateau le fit) and my undying gratitude will be your reward. best regards, johnnyg
  14. that's a great idea, any chance it could be on a wed thru sun evening? i'd be in... best regards, johnnyg
  15. i've never been to otay mountain, so today was the day! not too many photos, but you all know what it looks like. i made my way from encinitas through poway to 67 to lakeside. i didn't have it mapped but i knew the general direction... sure enough, there's otay lakes rd! huzzah! i asked the lady in the convenience store at the bottom of the dirt road (at the entrance to the pio pico campground) if they had any maps of the area, but they didn't. she told me that going east from doghouse junction was gated, so i followed the road south and west and ended at the juvenile lock-up. as i continued south from dh junction, i took the first couple of left hand spurs... the second one was a little pucker-y going down the back side to the turn-around. going back up was fun -- pick clean lines and don't lose momentum. saw a pretty snake. i had an encounter on 805 in chula vista on my way back north. i never engage people who want to "race", and i'm happy to let others "win" if it gives me space between me and that guy in the american muscle/pimped four-banger/giant diesel pickup/euro bling vehicle. i do try to move forward through traffic though, and do so without causing others to alter their course or speed. a merging bmw x-series crossed 3 lanes into my lane, while i was even with the rear side door. i braked and swerved, dropping behind him by a few car-lengths and calming my anger. at the next inch-worming of traffic i began to split and he pinches over to the right to close the gap on me. my anger was checked when i realized the level of his aggression. a gap opened and i moved from behind him and over two lanes to the right and pass the group he's slowing with. i moved forward through a few more clusters of cars to put some distance between us, and kept a keen eye on my mirrors for the next few miles. be safe out there. best regards, johnnyg
  16. bruce, i'll be honest, they give me the willies... i love seeing them, but i never feel the need to hold a wild one. i have held a captive ball python, and was really comfortable with it. i guess i don't know how to "read" a snake's movements to feel confident enough to handle a larger wild specimen, even though they're non-venomous. i prolly watch too many youtube fail videos. kelly, i typically don't let wacky people disrupt my life... i'm all too aware who would lose in a car/bike battle. disengage as quickly as is safely possible.

    Recommendations for Big Bike tires

x3. i'm at almost 9k, about 2k of which was 2-up. i'm getting them again, in about another 1k. best regards, john
  18. hey bruce, thanks for the response... i didn't know what type of snake it was, so assumed it was a gopher snake. are rosy boas native to socal?
  19. hi all, i ride a girly tiger ('06 955i) and would like to make a 3-4 day camping loop, going east on the bradshaw trail, then returning on mojave road. how sandy/technical are these roads? tires are mitas e07's, i'd consider myself an intermediate-lite rider, and i prefer moving to dabbing. any other unpaved-but-a-stock-rav4-could-do-it route suggestions are welcome. best regards, john

  23. i might be wrong (wouldn't be the first time), but i thought there wasn't access to the top of mason/oriflamme from 79? also, i tried to access rodriguez tt off banner grade last sunday, and the gate was closed there too. i assumed the only way in/out was off s-2 down at the bottom. maybe someone here can edumacate me? best regards, johnnyg
  24. hi all, all this week, i've been like a kid in detention, forlornly looking out the window at his friends on the playground. i have tried to make my schedule work to go on this excursion with you, but it's just not happening for me. i'll just have to watch from a distance, hearing your peals of joy and laughter, and turn slowly back to my tasks, dejectedly cursing my plight... i hope you all have a great trip, keep the rubber side down. best regards, johnnyg
