    Vehicle Access Sign

What does this sign mean? The icons are from the DOT document (MUTCD) for recreational vehicles. The title for the motorcycle sign (RL-150) is "Trail Bike". My take is that licensed cars, trucks and my plated dual-sport should be OK but ranger does not seem to agree. Sign is at start of dirt road to my fishing hole in national forest.

    Vehicle Access Sign

Thanks for the feedback - the road goes to 4 dispersed camp sites next to the river full of tire tracks. No FS route number. I rode to the river, fished a little and didn't notice the sign until my way out. I guess I'll give the ranger a call to clarify the intention of the sign which appears to be incomplete. If the intention is no motorized vehicles, I'll go elsewhere where hopefully the trout are larger. Follow up question for anyone interested. A nearby state campground shows only the same RL-150 (no trail bikes) sign. Autos are definitely legal here. Are there public roads where autos are legal but not street legal motorcycles? (Doesn't this violate one of our inalienable rights?) In this case, I suspect this sign does refer to dirt bikes as the campground is adjacent to an OHV park.
  3. Love to do the loop again with you but I'm smothered in chores.
  4. Randy - Fun ride. Thanks for posting. Great group and perfect weather. No sign of recent rain.
  5. Wildwood - Still have room in your truck? I'd love to bum a ride at the park n ride. Yeah Bill, just me so far. I'll be there at around 7:15 to load you up. Great - I'll be there

  7. Looks like a fun event to watch. Think I'll ride out. Wonder which is the better to day to watch?
  8. I'm in through breakfast. After that I'm hanging out at Vail lake before heading home.
  9. I'm riding this 2 hour loop from the PV cul-de-sac at 2pm. Anyone interested?
  10. Nice riding with you John. Perfect weather. I think I saw one puddle, otherwise bone dry.
  11. John, I'll look for you. Good to know we will at least be going the same direction. -Bill

  14. David - you ran out of gas and still beat me there... Riding the big orange adventure bike was too much fun as was lunch at Hideout and the warm ride out to Anza. Thanks for posting.
  15. Yeah, looks like 91 for a high on Saturday in Anza. Maybe we could just ride to the Hideout. I might also slab it to Julian later because my sister is catering a soft grand opening at Volcan Mountain Winery (formerly Jenkins Winery) off Wynola Rd. Open to suggestions. Meet you at high school at 9. We can wing it from there
  16. I might be in. Demo on an orange bike would be fun. Anza at mid day may be a little hot.
  17. Looks like a fun trip. Thomas Mountain looks pretty. Need to look and see where that is. Thanks for posting!
  18. So what place did you guys finish? I stopped by when you were on the 3rd lap but couldn't wait for you to pass. A little warm but didn't seem too bad (sitting in the shade with a cold drink). Made me wish I was 20 or 40 years younger. Here's a couple pics leaving the dry lake.

    climbing wall: holds and bolts

Bob - I'm interested. My daughter goes to a couple different climbing gyms but would love to set up a climbing wall on a plywood wall we already have.
  20. I might be putting around Superstition Saturday. Is there a good spectator area? Kenny - what number are you? Good luck guys!

    Valve Job?

Thanks for the advice everyone! Rings and seals already on my list. Think I'll have NCM take a look. A more careful look at the intake valves show obvious cupping and the exhaust guides have enough slop to make an audible clunk when you move them sideways.

    Valve Job?

I'm checking out my DR350 top end trying to figure out where all the oil has been going and not sure of how to interpret what the exhaust valves look like. The pitting on the face seems to be where the outer dark surface is wearing off or maybe the pitting is the only clean part of the valve? I'm not familiar with what a modern valve should look like. In the old days I think I would lightly lap them and see how it cleaned up but I guess that is a thing of the past with modern valves. (Assuming 1999 is modern). Any thoughts on how it looks? If these valves are on their last leg, I rather do it now. Also, any recommendation on a shop that does ok head work at ok price? (The parts did not look nearly this ugly until I blew them up)

    kiddo horse ride (in baja?)

I heard that the ranch near Border State Park closed. Bright Valley Farms in Jamul/Spring Valley does rentals. Picture is my girls at Rosarito (years ago). Not sure who rents this time of year.
