    Registration quandry

Exactly. If I was sure the buyer had not transferred the bike to his name, I would simply file a lost title. However, chances are he did transfer it, and now we each have title to the wrong bike. I think I'll call the title service folks...

    Registration quandry

We've pretty much cleared out our collection of pure dirt bikes and switched to a nice array of dual sports. One of the last bikes to go is a nice 2007 Honda CRF150. This is the third CRF150 we've owned, and here's the rub: a while ago I sold a 2006 CRF150 we had, but mistakenly gave the buyer the title to the 2007 CRF150. Had a guy come over to buy the 2007, cash in hand... Go to give him the title, and he looks at the bikes VIN, and it's wrong. So, we figured out the title mixup. Of course, now I'm looking like a scammer / doofus / idiot. So, I've got a nice 2007 CRF150 sitting here with no title, and a title to a 2006 CRF150 that I sold to a guy in Alpine, but don't have his name, address etc anymore. I just know that a trip to the dreaded DMV is in order, and can't imagine what they'll do. Any bright ideas? Ed

    KTM too tall. Lowering?

Thanks for the suggestions. Think I'll start by modifying the seat, then move into the suspension if needed. I don't have a need to be a hard core rider looking for the ultimate edge, I would rather be comfortable. Ed
  4. My 2007 KTM 450EXC is a bit too tall for my 29" legs. I can touch tip-toe, but would really prefer it a bit lower. Obviously, the KTM doesn't have suspension links that can easily be lowered. Any thoughts on lowering this beautiful machine?

    North County Shop?

We do most of the regular maintenance ourselves, but our growing business leaves little time for that. I guess I would rather ride than wrench. Recommendations for shops in the north county area that can properly work on KTM, Kawasaki, etc. at a fair price? I don't mind paying a pro what they deserve, but have run into too many hacks that still charge top dollar. A mobile mechanic would be great, as I would rather spend my time running our company than transporting six bikes around town. Ed
  6. I've had a couple bikes in to Herman Tuning, and both times ended up with a bill far higher than expected. Plus, after they rebuilt our CRF230 motor, it seized after less than 10 hours. I'm not impressed with them obviously.

    Greetings

Thank you. Tomorrow we're flying to Portland to pick up a nice motorhome to tow the bikes far and wide. (I like a nice bed and hot shower...) Met a cool guy yesterday; ER doc who lives next door to my daughter & son in law. Has four bikes, and last year rode his V-Strom 650 on a month long loop around the USA. Couple years ago, rode it to Alaska and back; 11,000 miles. Has a Honda 1100 (?) with 160,000 miles that he bought new. Obviously a hard core rider... Can't wait to get out and ride...

    Greetings

Glad to be here. Our family has been riding the dirt for several years. A year or so ago, we decided to pretty much get out of dirt bike riding. Sold most of the bikes and our toyhauler, and bought a nice sportfishing boat. Turns out that most of the family gets seasick. We've always had boats, but smaller ski boats. Our first venture into a good size boat turned out to be less than superb. Meanwhile, the kids still liked taking out the dirt bikes we still had when they could. Family conference, and the decision to get back into riding was made. We've always played together as a family, and whatever sport the majority wants to do, we do. So, in the past couple weeks our daughter & son in law bought a fifth-wheel toyhauler and truck, as well as a KTM 400EXC and a Kawasaki KLX 250S. I bought a KTM 450EXC, and got my wife a Kawasaki KLX 250S. We still need to get a couple more bikes for our two sons (17 & 22) who will go with us. Most likely a couple more KTM's. We've also got a couple non-plated bikes; KDX220 & RM125. This time around, we're not going with a toyhauler, but rather a motorhome. I picked up a new 16' enclosed trailer last week, and now we're looking for a nice late model diesel motorhome. In the past, we've primarily ridden Ocotillo Wells, Cuddeback Lake & Gorman. Having plated bikes interests us very much to expand our riding choices. I hope we can join in on an SDAR ride soon. Maybe the cool lady who sold us "Peanut" a couple years ago will be there... Ed
