  1. The NEW guy.........

Thanks for letting me tag along. Great ride and great to meet everyone! Thanks to Bagster for being a kickass guide and doing a great job making sure we were all together and safe.

If you look at my face in this pic, you can see disappointment. Bowers lured me to this ride with the promise of free snacks at each stop. Turned out it was all a lie! Still had a great time! Thanks!

  2. This was my bike..

A little history.. I fired it up and ran it just before I left for Alaska on July 23rd.

Was going to give it a good go over this weekend, but the shipper gave me 4 hours notice that he was picking it up the same day he called me so I didn't get a chance.

I don't think 2 months would be enough to gum up the carb at all, but anything is possible.

Super bummed to hear this, as I take a lot of pride in my bikes. Also super bummed I didn't get to give it a once over..

Please keep me/us posted on what it ends up being.

Bike ran perfect before I left for Alaska, so it HAS to be something simple.

    Thanks

    K

  3. To finish first, first you must finish!

Yessir always my "race" mantra and to ride always like its just a well marked fun trail ride with sweep chase, safety crews, ribbon markers and everyone going the same direction, never get too wrapped in the bar to bar stuff. I always stay away from others as much as possible. In my opinion these XC/enduro type races are safer than a regular trail ride. You will have fun up there believe me. And heck its the big league of western dez racing its a Nat you'll see for a few seconds anyway---Team KTM, top tier KAWs, Top tier Betas and others.

here's the last one I did, I rode my friend's WR300 Husky (Italian Husky) with most excellent Ohlins suspension. By the lap times you see how close the competition is. (he is a 100s MC trail boss and former Nat #1 50A rider, he could not race his clubs event due to rules)

    That is awesome!

Are the loops the same loop ran twice? ie.. chance of getting run over by Brabec or any of the other uber fast folks? :)

  4. Remember to pace yourself the first loop usually will be a "warm up" the second loop......can get ugly, just keep moving forward.

    Thank you!

Yeah, its been a lot of years, but i used to race a lot of longer Hare Scrambles back home. But back then i was in tip top shape, now i am fat and just use more throttle.

The D37 Scramble i did a few months ago, that method was key. I ran at 60% and about 1/2 in, 1/2 the field was either whooped of had yardsaled their bikes.

To finish first, first you must finish! :)

  5. mangler that NHHA is badass, Ive done round 1 before the DMC event as well as a bunch of others the Nats are no pansy open dez races (I have been beat down doing them but to this day still maintain a zero dnf rate in NHHA events over the years all on italian Huskys- thats gotta be a record in itself), sorry for the enduro hijack jon.

but im telling you you want a real challenge do some NHHA ( Nat H&H races), some real ugly terrain challenges especially up in the D37 zone-hardcore stuff.

That is exactly what i am looking for. Back home i raced NETRA from 94-99 on a XR250 and a KDX 200. Missed the harder terrain! I used to be decent, now i just hang on for dear life and try to finish.

  6. Mangler,

I entered online this morning. I kept all the same info from the race I did in Anza. That put me in Vet B Heavyweight. Were you talking about the Wickenburg race on the 25th? If so I wanted to do that one also.

As of now, I'm looking to drive up to Kernville on Friday night. Ride the Kern Canyon/River trail on Saturday and then head back toward Santa Clarita afterwards. I was planning to get out of town that weekend for a three day ride and really want to ride the Kern Canyon trail again. Any are welcome to join me for the Friday and Saturday portion. It is an epic trail with spectacular views. Will be about 60 miles of singletrack and 2 miles of other on Saturday.

Ok.. Now i am VERY interested! Been wanting to ride up in that area! Let me check some things on my schedule.

Looks like we would be in the same class for the Lost in the Woods Race.

This is the one i was thinking about: http://www.district37ama.org/offroad/calendar/2015/jan/2015_dmc.jpg

  7. Anyone planning on running this season? Just did the last few and looking forward to the 2015 races. I'm in oceanside if anyone is interested in carpooling once in awhile. My 2 race buddies have moved out of the area so now I'm looking for others to make the trip out and keep me awake on those long early morning drives...lol.

Hope to see some of you guys out there.

I'll be doing most of the D37 scrambles this year. I like the D37 terrain a lot better than just sand sand sand of D38

    Down to carpool if interested

  8. George (Suspenders) built me a custom set for my supermoto race bike that were BOMBPROOF!!!!

The recipe a lot of the racers go with for strength is:

    -Stock OEM Hubs off eBay

    -Excel (Tasakago) Hoops

    -Buchanan HD Spokes

I beat the bejesus out of these things (I am 300lbs geared up) as did the guy i sold the bike too and not a single issue!!!

Whole setup including labor was under $1k for the set.

I will be building a set of 19s for some flat track racing soon and will be doing the same build specs.

  9. Hey Guys

    Anyone else going to this?

    http://www.mavericksadelantogp.com/

Heard its one hell of a good time.

I just reserved a camp spot at the stadium for the whole weekend and have room for a couple more.

Will be heading up either Thursday PM after work or at Ass Crack O'Clock Friday.

Anyone planning on attending this? Let me know if you want to coordinate carpool/pit

    Vdog?

  10. George is the man!

He did the suspension on my YZ450F.. Two days later, i won (both motos) at the last MX race ever held at Pala in Vet30 class.

I'm a fatty pushing 300lbs with gear, and i didn't touch a single clicker, picked it up and raced it, bike was DIALED!!!

Blew it up riding like an ahole in the desert the very next weekend, but it died an undefeated champion! :)

He has since done 2 more bikes for me and both had the same spot on results.
