  1. This ride sounds like a blast and the fund-raiser aspect of it is just adds to it. Really cool, Count me in. By the way, if Zenozan wants to emabark on an adventure of some sort and C-Daddy puts together something that looks like this much fun, count me in for that too!

    New Ride

I have the 800 (same engine as yours). I love it on the road, especially the narrow, twisty, poorly maintained country roads surrounding my house, but my regular dirt bike is a KTM 525 and the F8 feels like a pig in the dirt to me and scares the crap out me. I think it is way too heavy, blows through its suspension immediately, and with its snappy throttle response and street tires, won't stay attached to the ground AT ALL. That said, I've seen what others can do on them, so I realize my lack of skills and confidence may be the biggest part of the problem and I am ready to start exporing offroad more seriously. I am in Murrieta, so if you want to get out and try something in your territory, let me know and I will ride down there and join you. If you are interested in coming up here, I can lead you on a nice ride through the Clevelands - about 90 poorly maintained pavement and 10% dirt, until they open up N. Main Divide and Wildomar again (I was out there day before yesterday and both were closed - due to rain I suppose) then it would be more like 50/50 dirt/street. I am tied up this weekend. but am free from next Wednesday on (I am retired so I mostly set my own schedule) so if interested, drop me a note anytime. Dave.
  3. Sounds like a good time. Any plans to go next week? I might be able to tag along.

    Looking for BMW Dealer

Thanks for the info. Which BMW are you getting?
  9. I'm newly relocated to Murrieta area and looking for my new "local" BMW dealer to maintain and take care my F800GS (recalls, etc.) . Looks like Escondido, San Diego and Riverside are all (more or less) within striking range. I am interested in hearing any experiences, good or bad, you've had. If you dont want to post bad on public forum, you can get me direct at dcummings1959@gmail.com THANKS.
  10. I'm in. I plan on doing a street ride with from a track Crawdaddy sent me, but will bring both bikes in case i can hook up with you guys for a DS ride one day too. We are staying at the Mammoth RV Park (mammothrv.com - I think someone already mentioned it above). My buddy just made reservations, so it looks like they still have room. We stayed there last year and it was nice - about a mile from the venue and the Hotel where most are staying. Look forward to meeting you guys.

    Another New Guy

Welcome Dave. A great group of peeps. Just don't ask them about a GPS mount for your handlebars...They'll give you all kinds of grief!! Got my GPS mount, so they will have to pick on me for something else. Shouldnt be too difficult, I am a target rich environment for grief!

    Another New Guy

Thanks for all the greetings folks, you've already made me feel at home here. the friendly tone of this site (and the riding partner opportunities of course) are why I joined. I am technicalogically challenged though, so I couldnt find rexrs Murrieta ride report that was mentioned. Oh yeah, hey Roger, good hearing from you too - yeah, we are confirmed for Mammoth. See ya there!
  14. Hi Guys, Dave Cummings here introducing myself. I ride an 07 KTM 525 and an F800GS BMW. I have met some of you at prior desert dashes and on the trails (like "Crawdaddy" in Mammoth last year) I have been dual sporting for about the past 5 years, and consider myself an intermediate level rider. I recently retired and moved to Murrieta from LA and am not too familiar with it yet so I am looking forward to hooking up with some fellow, like-minded riders, anytime but especially during the week, and exploring trails and roads nearby. Oh yeah, I love riding Big Bear too! Thats my introduction. I'll be watching the ride posts, or maybe putting one up soon.
