    4 Lucky Dudes

I had a feeling this would be an excellent excuse to pick up your "Spot" and slide a new bike under it!

    4 Lucky Dudes

All I got out of him was bike died.....removed plug.....no spark FYI...Hobiee helped me out one time on a buddies bike with clues for no spark issue on a 525... Ended up a common problem....one of the stator wires had a cold solder that broke. Removed the side cover and re-soldered the wire. Good To Go! Would suck to be out there unable to ride....especially if you get home and find it was such an easy fix

Geez! the typical luck those poor guys go through.... Hopefully the trail to get the bike isn't too tight for the dually

We know how much Ron likes snow and mud....
  5. Thanks Chris for a great time. Always feels good to help out kids in any way we can. My wife and I were flying to get there by 7 for the check in to help with loading GPS tracks. Lucky for Dan we saw him on the way (34 miles from destination) with a blown trailer tire. We stopped and helped replace his tire. Saturday I was up and ready early and went to go meet up with Dan, Brock, Tim and Kevin. There was still some last minute repairs needed on Kevin's rear tire as he punctured it earlier on Friday. Side note....JB Weld actually works on tires! Finally, Dan, Kevin, Brock, Time and I headed out....We decided to run the tracks in reverse so we would be at the lunch stop about the same time as others. Unfortunately, I didn't take that many pictures but we had an awesome ride! "Tin Shack" Tim pulling up to the shack Brock taking a siesta and Dan in the background digging through the barrel Next shack with more comforts from home After lunch we rode up to Hotel California....interesting read inside of how the "hotel" came about and what happened there. On the hill above the Hotel.. Once we returned to Glamis North my wife had cold beer ready and had snacks out! We snacked and cooled off, cleaned up and lounged on the deck later with an awesome beef stew that had been simmering in the crock pot all day. Top off the day in the mineral spa then bed. Sunday, my wife and I went for a ride....we had the Saturday crew tag along with the "Coma" guys. Rode down to the shoe tree, bat caves and the oasis. Bat Cave I spaced it and forgot to fuel up that morning so we headed back for some fuel. Coma guys stayed back to hit the pool and the rest of us headed to Salvation Mountain / Slab City. Kind of at a loss for words about that place....bad drugs, hippies, good drugs?? Who knows....just not right in the head. Salvation Mountain Lotsa Weird stuff around there I finished the sentence for them Dan and Kevin shaking their heads in a WTF fashion Used old car doors and windows to let light in Shrine? Dan and Brock on top of old Salvation Then it was on to the good stuff right behind the mountain there were 2 large water tanks. The water tanks would be tougher to get to by car unlike the "mountain". But, it really made you think...ok, what is really going on here! Check out the artwork on the tank....just a bit different than Salvation Mountain 250 yards away. Wee bit of a contradiction....especially named "The Wheel of Kama Sutra" good thing there were no kids on this section!
  6. That was soooo awesome to see you guys out there! Made me very envious of your ride. My son still wants to play around with his quad and not yet ready to get back on 2 wheels. He is only 8 so I need to be patient. We criss crossed and passed you guys once or twice along the trail....was kind of nervous passing you guys on the home stretch. Didn't want to spook the little guys Bet you guys were very proud to be a dad that day....one weekend that will never be forgotten by your boys. They did a hell of a job out there riding that far!

    Looking for information on XR650R

XR650R is an awesome bike...with suspension set up correct and a few mods it is a great bike. For a loooong time it has reigned as the King of Baja. Still miss mine from time to time.... Only thing that made me get rid of mine was the missing "magic button". All depends on what you want in your riding. If you plan on mostly riding open desert and have no desire for tight mountain riding. This is the way to go without shelling out lotsa cash.

    Bike Porn

Can't believe I did this.... Sold my beloved CRF450X that I had plated Have been debating on a newer bike for quite some time. Figured now was the time to sell the CRF as she had a brand new motor in her. My thought was that if I bought another bike it had to have FI and perform close to the CRF. So I found a used '12 500EXC with 6 hours on it! Bike had 6 hours on it from the previous owner riding it to and from work a few times. Never been off road. P/O had taken the bike to All American for the first service, re-map, install a MAP switch and de-smog the bike. Said he only wanted to sell the bike cause he couldn't stand to walk by her in the garage and never ride her. Those of you that know me....know I am not that fond of the orange. Last year I had to sell my beloved KTM Rally 690 bike and was not very happy about that. (but I was happy to use the funds to get rid of a "person" living in my house ) Miss her... So I decided I need to remove some orange on the 500.... Installed a rotor guard, license plate holder with integrated tail, stop, turn signals.... REALLY bitchin seat from Lendon at Seat Concepts! Under the bars GPR... Also need to finish the install of the hand guards, Wolfman saddle bags, GPS hardwire, Spot etc Can't wait to burn off the crappy tires that the manufacturer installs. Them tires is junk!

  19. Good times as usual! We were able to lock in the front house again as we have for the past few years. This time the weather was excellent! Lots of laughs around the camp fire every night! Locked up the house for next year as well so stop by for a beer and laughs next year. On to some pics....Not too many incriminating pics this year. The group this year must have been ready for action or were fast picking up their bikes. Started off on Saturday riding Pinyon Mountain.... Tim WALKING down Jeep Squeeze Rock Steps before H/A Ridge....never thought about the name "rock steps" until I looked at the pics and saw everybody with their foot on the rocks...."stepping" their way up Brock stepping up... Dan the Man Tim Schwinn... Schwinn just before he got the shakes he was reminded of some previous pics I had posted...so he jammed up to H/A Ridge to go down first so I wouldn't get his picture Second Dan on steps Dan II Step Eric Step Everybody through...now on to Heart Attack Ridge. Schwinn was waiting for me at the bottom with his camera. I parked and we watched Tim come flying down We thought he must have just pointed the bike and closed his eyes...ended like a champ! never had time to get camera out to catch Tim down. Dan Dan II Eric Somehow I missed Brock coming down the hill.... Now for Fairchild Hill... Tim (aka Banzai) Dan II Got One!! Dan the man Eric cleaned it! Then on to Fish Creek.... We rode in n out of Sandstone Canyon but I didn't take any pics. Then moved on to diablo Tim motoring up.. Dan Eric Dan II Then we rode through Arroyo Seco Del Diablo to Canyon Sin Nombre across S2 to make our way to lunch in Ocotillo. On our way we rode Dos Cabezas. One fun hill to climb on our way. Dan II Tim right before he got stuck at the last step up....he went back down and ended up going up another way. Dan displacing some dirt Brock cleaning it Eric flying up No more pics for Saturday. Sunday we rode....tired of typing so that's all you get Dan II Fish Creek Eric Fish Creek Brock Dan We rode a lot of the Desert Dash tracks...(some in reverse before everybody would be out on that section of the course) and played in other areas such as the mud caves etc. Great time!
