Mimi, Might I recommend hitting all the good dealerships and applying specifically for the service writer-position ... It's a little retail, a little customer service and a lot of "motorcycle" knowledge. Most service writers don't seem to have a clue. You would be PERFECT at that job!

And considering he made a poor route choice early on and had to make up time in the afternoon ... HE'S THE MAN! -

The point is to be careful about what we're doing that others see and develop opinions about. If we step out of our boots and be objective, I think we all know the general public doesn't understand us and likely has some pre-conceived negative ideas about motorcycles "trampling the countryside". We can choose to either bolster those opinions or try to look respectable. I would say doing wheelies on public roads would not be considered "respectable" by most onlookers. So when we're out on the dirt and not directly in the public eye, we all know what we do having a good time - that's what it's all about. But since we always seem to be fighting a losing battle concerning land use, I'd suggest we not shoot ourselves in the foot. Kevin, I agree with much of what you said. It is perhaps much closer to the way things "should" be rather than the way things "are". You mentioned La Posta and Thing Valley. Should they be closed? No. Are they? Yes. So this issue is not that cut-and-dried. Some of our actions may have a direct bearing on getting permits, and some may just have a direct bearing on what the public thinks of us. I'm pretty sure we all agree that we don't need any more bad press than we're already getting. -
Ah, the look of good moist dirt!

Mimi, what was the job you had? Why did you quit? What type of work would you LIKE to do? (Perhaps someone here knows of a possibility)

This would save me endless hours on just one post! I hope this can happen. Until that happens, try this: http://spellcheck.net/ Cut & Paste your text into this on-line spell-checker, correct your spelling, then Cut & Paste back to the SDAR dialogue box. -
Hopefully that means they're addressing some issues rather than giving us funky product. Remember the 1200 GS with brake servos ...

SDAR to Help Sponsor Local DAKAR Rally Rider
Brett replied to KTMrad's topic in Off-Road Racing Events, Discussions, Rally Racing, Info, etc.
This is the case with John Deykes. I also noticed a day or two ago when the Dakar site was still up ( Now the cancellation message: http://www.dakar.com/indexus.html ) that there is a huge influx of 1st timers this year - Something like 40% !!! These are non factory sponsored privateers that just lost their "own" time and $. -

I feel so very sad for all the participants, and our friend John. This was his lifetime motorcycle goal and his first entry. -

I think it's been brought up before but I saw nothing in this topic about a Spell Checker so we can correct our posts before "Add Reply"? Also, perhaps I'm overlooking it but I see no way to "Un-subscribe" to a topic. I would also like a forum where people could go to volunteer to help me. My bikes need maintenance like everyone's: Oil, chain, valves, tires - you know what I mean. People could go to the forum and let me know when they're available. If enough people did so there would be someone at my beck and call just about any time and that would be great. After becoming organized, most volunteers would get the idea that it's also good to bring groceries and yard maintenance equipment. I'm just saying ... -
We used 0.50 kg/mm (from some Honda CR I think). Not sure where to buy, but I got mine at Precision Concepts. I believe your travel is reduced from our 2004 models, so not sure what length or rate would be best. I defer once again to Eric.
