    KLR 650 TECH DAY

Had a great time. little smaller turnout than last time - so I got lots of personal attention!! Thanks especially to Mike, but also to everyone else who pitched in to help out a real Noob. Had time to eat donuts, do the Doo, drink coffee, start the valves, eat wonderful spicy hot dogs and potato salad, finish the valves, tweak cables, eat brownies, adjust mixture screw on carb, eat cookies, fix a sticky throttle, install a fork brace (SIDE NOTE: this is fantastic!...it really controls the wind-sail wobble on the freeway ) drink a coke and call it a day. whew. Thanks again - I hope to pass it forward.

    KLR RIDER'S

    Bump....note sig. as well
  8. I will be riding with mostly quads and 4-wheelers...after watching the video - I dont think there are a lot of them on THAT trail...!
  9. Wow. How timely. My Pops just called me up this week and invited Me and the Mrs. Spud to go spend a week in Moab. March 25-30(ish). Buncha his friends are headed there for the rally (I am assuming the 4-wheeler variety) and since he is coming from Idaho, that would be a good half-way point for us to meet. I don't think his math is much good. Anyway...I was thinking of taking the KLR the whole way, maybe inviting some others for the start of the ride (out over the Salton Sea, towards Ariz, up to Moab / dirt as much as possible)... Now that y'all are saying that things can get REAL unpredictable...I am considering only riding up part way, having the wife take the truck, and then load up for the final leg. That way I've got some back up when I am there for *special* weather. Suggestions??

    Fun Bike Center, Bike Fit

I prob have a rare and unique experience at FBC. Good friend of mine's wife worked as a cashier, and now up in the office. I have been riding with the asst mngr in parts for over a year (he races quads). Soooo...I am very happy with them...all in all...as far as sales and parts. Have had a number of problems in the service dept...but havent been to a large service dept yet that didnt have huge turn-over of mechs...and lots of apathy on the floor. Best to do the work yourself...or find a small shop that you trust (anybody know of one??) I guess it is just another case "it is WHO you know..."

    Com Systems

I have a chatterbox x2 setup. Altough I have been very happy with it (2-way com, MP3, phone connection) I have been looking at the autocom. I would be very interested to hear what you think of your set-up: range, quality (espec at hiway speed) etc...
  13. My name is Eric, live in the Rancho Penasquitos area. Hadn't riden since I was a teen (i'm 40 now) but bought a sport tour ZZR600 last fall. Put about 3500 miles on it, the wife stole it (she rides) so I had to upgrade to the ZZR1200. Daily commuter, and weekend tourer. 6500 on it now.Just bought a 2004 KLR 650. Almost all of my riding as a kid was trails, fireroads and dirt. I can't wait to get out there!! Looking forward to hooking up with some of you, prob at the BBQ next month.I'll be the guy on a red KLR going back and forth on the 15 in sport black leathers...I like my skin where it is.Jay, you seem pretty close...I'm sure we could link up for a ride in a couple of weeks...I dont mind the heat so much...as long as I've got water.
