hoss314 0 Posted February 25, 2010 Passed a Beemer or two on about 3 times broke down on the DD. Sunday, we rode past a couple of guys and a fallen Beemer that had left one hell of a divit in the trail from the cylinder on the left side of the bike. Rode up to the rest of his buddies and there was a long laundry list of damages to the bike being explained.
650hucker 0 Posted February 25, 2010 Do BMWs break alot or something?
bikeslut 1 Posted February 25, 2010 Wil- short answer is "no"...final drive failure is akin to the doohickey on KLRs...not THAT frequent, but catastrophic when it does As far as the BMW on the dash- no matter how you look at it, its a 500 pound, 1200 cc bike ...somethings gotta give. I made the weight up in my head, but it wouldn't surprise me
650hucker 0 Posted February 25, 2010 Oh, Ok. Dry weight of the R1200GS is 491 lbs. So yeah, 500 lbs at least falling...something's gotta break.

I think that if I tried to ride one of those 500lb bikes on dash-like trails you would be passing me while I am making my list of damages to both me and the bike!
