23AUG2014 Local east county ride
TNT replied to robertaccio's topic in 1 to 3 Day Ride Write-Ups, Stories and Photos
I rode my buddies 500xcw last week with roached mousse is front. Front end felt very unpredictable. Like a normal tire with 5lbs of pressure. Wanted to knife in a lot. I bet when mouses are bad the tire folds like u have a flat as soon as u lean the bike over. Felt just like that He's getting new mouses and tire on front soon so we're leaving suspension alone until we can get an honest assessment. -

Ive ridden saboba a few times - over the AM start no matter how early u get there - Berto we should all go up around 9 AM and ride the 2nd loop - its a much more technical trail with 90% less people - we will be some of the first to go - The organizers have no idea who rode the first - I dont think they even care at that point in the day - u just find the entrence and go - If we finish the 2nd and have some juice left - we can do loop 1 - The 2nd loop a few yrs ago was EPIC and well worth it. way better then the mayhem on the first loop -

Gotta give my 2 cent since I was excited for this race and it was my first VCMC West chec enduro. . If u would enjoy racing on quad trials this race was amazing. If u enjoy being passed by racer guy on the transfer sections right when u were out of the dust ... This race was fun. If u enjoy time trial down a straight whooped out sand road it was awesome. If u think its a good idea to run a time trial over the same exact trail twice, u would have had a great time. And if u enjoy riding the exact same section of amazing silt road every loop then it was perfect for you. I on the other hand think I will skip the next VCMC west chec "enduro" -
Went to the KTM ADV rally in steamboat springs last month and had the opportunity to ride the 990 baja and 1190 adv back to back. I personally would rather have the 990 - It just felt so smooth and perfect from the get go - After 10 min on the 1190 ADV #1 my legs were hot ( The engine pumps out heat right against your legs ) #2 The bars were buzzy through out the entire RPM range. #3 if your over 6 Ft tall your will not be comfortable for very long ( Seat to peg is very short for ADV bike ) #4 You can tell this is a sport bike motor ( not much form 2-5K then it really comes on strong ) we rode then in the " full power MAP " - Not sure how many people need 150 hp off road. The 990 felt way smoother - WAY less vibes through bars and very comfortable for all day riding. Funny thing was after talking to fellow riders at dinner and breakfest, that seemed to be a common opinion of the new 1190. If you have a 990 dont jump ship untill you ride the new 1190 longer then 10 min.

I have come across MTN bike riders on this trail and have stopped to talk to may of them - All good vibes so far - Pay attenetion as they haul the mail coming down - LOOK WAY AHEAD and pull over for them - I wouldnt even think of riding this on weekends - you can get an idea of how many people are out by the number of cars under bridge - tread lightly and dont hammer their jumps or cut corners- Im thinking of doing more of this at night with my new BD squadron LED.
